Inside Kimmy's Mind » My Days…

My Days…

I’ve started training at the museum this past weekend. It was a lot of fun, but was definitely exhausting. I had three parties on Saturday.  Started the morning with a dino party, then moved on to a deluxe Astro with a Star Wars theme. It was like they knew I would be training today. And ended with a butterfly party.

The first party was for a 7 year old boy, and like most little boys, he was extremely hyper. It was his birthday after all. My trainer was super nice, she answered all my questions and was just great. Dino parties will be the most tricky, because there is some information I will have to learn while giving this tour. Hopefully I can memorize some facts. The second party, the Star Wars one was really cool. It was for a 5 year old and these parents brought all their own decorations and even hired a Darth Vader impersonator. This was a deluxe party, meaning they had the big room with the round tables. The astronomy parties have a planetarium show instead of a tour. My job for this one is to make sure the guest arrive in time and then bring them back to their party room after it has finished. The third party was a butterfly one for a little 3 year old girl. This one is where I have to manage time more closely. I will have to keep an eye on how much time they spend in the bug room and how much they spend in the actual rainforest. Then I make sure to take them back to their party room at a certain time.

For each party I will…

  • Decorate the party room, table cloths and balloons (unless they bring their own)
  • Place coloring sheets matching their theme on the tables
  • Sign and decorate the Giant Birthday Card
  • Get craft ready
  • Meet the family in the garage and help them transport food and whatnot
  • MANAGE TIME
  • Do tour and craft
  • Cut cake then hand out party favors
  • Help parents take gifts and food back to their car

I hope it doesn’t take me too long to get the hang of things, I’m scared to run a party on my own at this point. >.< I train again on Thursday, it’s a butterfly party so I need to find my wrist watch.

On Sunday the bf and I went out shopping. Well, it took us some time to actually decide on the what and where. First, we were gonna go to the movies but then we woke up late. Then we were gonna go to the Galleria, but again we woke up late and stores close earlier on Sunday. Neither of us drive, so we need plenty of time during the day because we have to take metro to get around. Some things are too far to bike to, and it’s a hassle not having a car sometimes. -.- We finally decided on heading to a plaza where they have different stores and food places to choose from. It would also be easy for both of us to get home after we were done shopping. He’d go one way and I would catch the bus heading in the opposite direction of his. We were on a mission to find him some clothes. I have to warn you, I might get mushy from here on on out.

We took several pictures while waiting for our bus at the transit center, well I kept taking pictures of us. He just recently got a smart phone, he’s joined the dark side mwahaha! I hope to get him to start using instagram. I know he won’t ever share pictures of himself but I know he still likes to take pictures. nofaceSo of course if I want to share pictures of us I have to cover his face. But then I noticed you can’t see my eyes in this one. This actually happens a lot whenever I take pictures. I’m either squinting or my bangs cover them. Oh well, I still think it’s a cute picture of us.  After we finally made it to our destination we went to different stores in hopes of finding him some slacks, dress shirts, shorts. And I have to say he is so freaking adorable. He went into the dressing room and came out to show me how each piece looked. >.< So cute!!! I couldn’t help but find it so and the fact that he wanted my opinion was nice. Ultimately it’s up to how he feels in the clothes of course. However, he has a tiny waist so certain shirts fit him baggy. I think he’s like me only…a dude. I’m in between sizes. I usually feel safe in medium because small will sometimes be too tight in certain areas. And I think that’s why he likes wearing Hawaiian shirts. That’s right, my boyfriend loves Hawaiian shirts. XD I’m sure it’s because he finds them comfortable and a person should be comfortable in what they’re wearing. But I figured we should stay focus on getting him work clothes. But then I noticed the t-shirts and couldn’t resist buying myself a Star Wars one. I stayed away from the dresses though so go me! We shared some teriyaki chicken and then finished the evening with some frozen yogurt. I finally showed him berripop but I’m not sure if he liked it as much as I did.

I always hate having to say goodbye after our time together during the weekend, because it means I can’t see him for the whole week. :/ I know it’s only a few days, but I really enjoy our time together and saying goodbye sucks. But it was Sunday night and we skype while watching GoT together. Love it! Well, I’ll update again soon. Until then…

    What a cute post!

Your job sounds like so much fun! It’s definitely different, and at least the customers you have to help are usually happy because they’re at a party!

@Kristen, I’ve had to deal with some high strung parents, But so far it’s been pretty fun, and all of my co workers have been pretty nice. So I’ve been enjoying it so far.
