~Challenge~ 30 Days of Yoga

I’ve been wanting to get back into yoga for awhile now. I would attend a few classes of hot yoga back in 2015 and I really enjoyed it.

I noticed my attitude changed whenever I started taking the classes. It wasn’t every day, just whenever I could. I felt more confident too, not sure if my body actually changed but I felt like it had. I had a pep in my step and I was more limber too and felt like I could push my body further. Fast forward to now, I haven’t been to a hot yoga class in ages. My body image hasn’t been the best lately and it’s been bringing down my mood. I try not to look too closely at myself, but the other day I stopped in front of my mirror and stared. The thoughts I try hard to ignore found me last night.  Soooooo….let me get to the positive part of this entry. I want to do something about my negative body image.  Bloggers Elisa and Mariz have inspired me to create a little challenge for myself.

Starting today I’m going to start attending yoga classes again, only this time be more consistent and attempt even more active classes. I’ll be doing the $30 for 30 days and my hope is that I will make it a habit even after my 30 days are up.  I don’t want to get upset at myself for skipping days. I know for sure, I’ll be missing at least three,  due to plans but the important thing is that I don’t want to treat it like a chore and then end up skipping weeks.  The studio is not far from my work, so I have no excuses! I can do this! Since it’s been a while, I invited my friend Katie to go with me tomorrow after work. She loves yoga and I figured having a friend come with me would motivate me more. Plus, I haven’t seen her in a long time. I thought it would be a great way to dive into this challenge.

As a mini challenge to go along with this one…food. I also want to start thinking about how to eat smarter. Because my diet is also in need of some changes. It’s not that I want to cut out all of the things I love and enjoy, I just want to tweak it. Hopefully, this challenge will lead to a more active lifestyle. I’m not trying to lose a certain amount of weight or anything I just want to feel the confidence I once felt and perhaps shed some of the jiggle.

Here’s hoping I end this challenge strong and gain a new hobby and a new perspective on my outward appearance. What do you do to stay active, have you attempted a 30 day exercise challenge? Or are there exercises you try to do daily? I’d love to hear any tips you may have.

Thanks for reading

That’s great that you’ve become more motivated! I think it’s great to create challenges for ourselves.

I tried hot yoga ONCE and it was pretty painful, haha. I’m not sure I want to repeat the experience. I also think it’s normal to feel insecurity when it comes to body image. I feel it often too if I just stare at my body in the mirror but I think it’s all about creating a positive mindset! People approach this differently, so I hope your new goals and challenges helps you become more confident about yourself. Because you’re awesome!

@Rezina, So far I’ve managed to maintain the motivation. Thanks for your kind words.
I hope I can continue having fun with this. 🙂
I don’t expect my feelings to change over night, but already going to yoga every day this weekend has given me a sense of pride. It’s nice.

    You’re awesome too!

Good luck with the yoga challenge! 30 days sounds really difficult, but I’m sure you’ll be able to manage it. And even if you don’t, you’ll still have achieved loads just by attempting it.

I challenged myself to exercise for an hour a week this year, but so far it’s not happened. It’s so hard to get into the habit of doing something on a regular basis, especially when free time is limited. I’m thinking about trying the 7 minutes a day app, just so I can at least do something. Hopefully it’ll work this time!

Good luck altering your diet! Sure you’ll do great!

@Amy, The motivation is definitely difficult. Time is a huge factor and depending on the time of day, it can change my motivation. -.-

But all I can do is try my best, and you’re right..even just doing that and I’ll walk away with making the effort.

Good luck with your plans as well. 🙂

I believe you’ll complete this challenge and you have my support all throughout. You can do this! I think it’s okay to miss a few ones for totally valid reasons. And I agree that doing it shouldn’t feel like a chore or else you’ll lose motivation quickly. I haven’t tried yoga but I work out at a gym. I need to start exercising again because I’ve been slacking for a month ? And I also need to watch what I eat, thanks for reminding me!
Those are really cute sports bras and I’m definitely more confident in exercising while wearing one!

@Gillan, I’m too scared to work out at a gym. I just don’t know the proper way to start and then I’m even more scared to get an actual trainer…nor do I actually have the funds for that. The food thing is hard, still need to work on that too.

Yes! Cute sports bras make me feel more confident.

I don’t do a lot of 30-day style challenges but I often make changes to my lifestyle – diet and exercise – a little bit at a time. If I haven’t done anything for a while, I know that it will be difficult to go for 30 days without at least trying for a few days a week first. Then I usually work up from there!

But you sound very committed and since you did love yoga when you did it, I am sure you won’t have a problem getting back into it. Even though you will miss a few days, I look forward to hearing about how you go!

I am in the process of trying to eat smaller meals – that’s what I’m currently doing ?

@Georgie, Last night was great! It was a black light night, we had glow stick bracelets and everything. It was a lot of fun. XD

Of course I found another con…at least it might be the reason. I’ve been breaking out a lot and I’m thinking it’s due to sweating so much. Not sure…hormones and whatnot. -.- I need to get a new face cleaner.

But I’m still enjoying yoga. I’m taking today off to go to the movies with the bf though and will pick it up again tomorrow. I’ve been trying to do smaller and healthier meals. I’ve gotten breakfast but once I get to dinner…it becomes a bit more difficult. I’d love to hear what you’ve been doing for smaller meals.
