Life Update
Hurricane Harvey Day 5
Matt and I have been extremely lucky. There has only been a bit of flooding around us and it has already gone down. However, Houston has been hit hard.

Before the Storm
Friday, I had to go into work so I stayed with Matt the night before. He did not have to work so he drove me to the museum and walked around until I was done, I left around 11:30 or so that morning. We got lunch, like it was any other day, and then headed back to his apartment. Saturday seemed normal that morning, so we walked to the nearest grocery store and got some last minute supplies. That night the first band hit and the road from the window started to flood. To our surprise there were a bunch of people still on the road. The next morning the water from the road was gone, but it was still raining. We both got the call that work was cancelled for Monday and that our coworkers were safe. Our friends and families were safe.

My prayers go out to my fellow Houstonians, my fellow Texans and neighbors who are helping us through this difficult time. And to my dad, and men and women like him, who are putting themselves in danger to help others. Please be safe.
That’s all for now. I’ll update again soon.

I’m glad you and your family are ok! Your dad is amazing for working through the storm to restore the lights. I hope he continues to be safe too.
I was shocked by all the photos from Houston and the other affected cities. I can’t imagine what the affected people are going through either, having to deal with no power and flooded homes. I’m really hoping everyone is pulling through and that the city will recover soon. I’m wishing the best for you all. Stay safe!

@Cat, Thanks so much!
Yes, it was devastating. But it’s so nice that Houston has been doing it’s best to get back to normal. Rebuild as much as they can and hopefully move on from this.
Thankfully my dad made it safely through and is now on a normal work schedule.
Now I’m just hoping Florida and the islands are safe from Irma. It’s scary.

Glad to hear that you and your family are okay. I have never experienced a hurricane before although we have had huge snow storms where I am from. Either way, it looks absolutely devastating on the news. Wish the best for all your family and friends!

@Kim,Snow storms sound scary as well. We definitely wouldn’t know how to handle that here in Texas. I’ve been through several hurricanes before, but this one was a big one. I was unbelievably lucky and can only hope and do my best to help others anyway I can.
And I’m praying for FL and those that are on Irma’s path.
Thanks for reading. 🙂

I’m so glad that you are safe! I’ve seen some terrible things about Irma on tv, it was horrible!
This blog is such a nice, cosy place, I really love it!
