Inside Kimmy's Mind » A Thank You

A Thank You

Firstly, I just want to take the time and thank my fellow bloggers for reading and commenting on my blog. I really appreciate every comment. ๐Ÿ˜€

And I’ve found some fascinating new blogs to read as well. So win win! So its always good to add your blog url when commenting.ย  I feel as though there aren’t enough bloggers in the world. And I have yet to meet someone in person who openly confesses to blogging. I mean why wouldn’t you want to blog? I enjoy it. Once I meet someone new, I admit to blogging right off the bat in hopes they share the same pastime.ย  Sadly, they just look at me and nod. A lot of non-bloggers, see the act of blogging as just another spotlight the attention whores crave. But if you think about it, even the non-bloggers sort of blog in some way. Facebook and twitter is micro blogging is it not? They take the time to type out a sentence or two that documents the day and display it for the world to see. They assume the world cares what they have to say. Yet they mock us, who create more than a few sentences? Hypocritical if you ask me. I think all the dedicated bloggers are hidden away somewhere. But I’m happy to have found such an accepting community with like minded people. So again, I thank you. ๐Ÿ˜€

So onto daily outfit. This is what I wore on Monday and I actually really love this outfit. I’ve mention before that I don’t always feel pretty. So when I do, I like to take a bunch of pictures to prove that I can. This is another new combination of layers that I’m proud of. Everything matches so well. I’m a bit of a match freak thanks to my sister Mija but I’m not complaining. It was programed in me when I was little so I can’t actually help it. XD The green dress was actually a bit longer but I shortened it because the length was a bit awkward. This is actually shorter than a dress, so I’m wearing some shorts underneath. I even do so when the dress is actually long enough. Layers are actually a security blanket for me. The more layers the better. The tights I’m wearing are actually my favorite. I bought them a year or two ago at Target. I’m really loving this mint green, its featured in the cardigan, the tights, the purse (also from Target a few years back) and even my nail polish. I knitted an olive green bow for my hair, I’m in love with making hair accessories. And bows are just so fun to use/make. ๐Ÿ˜€ My hair is in a bun, I used a sock to create the perfect bun. Of course in person its a massive bun. I have a ton of hair and its hard to get my hair to cooperate with the me but I managed to get it to work. It takes some practice to get the sock bun down and I’m getting there. My younger sister, Kat discovered the sock bun and showed me how to do it. I’m still surprised I managed to do it.

So I packed some rice balls for lunch the other day. They made for a great picture, but they weren’t exactly very filling. So I think I’ll stick with my sandwiches for now. But I did have fun adding faces to the picture. Look how cute? I wish I could pack a cute bento, but my culinary skills are nonexistent. So I wouldn’t be able to be put something as beautiful and yummy together like some can. Besides, I have to keep in mind what will keep throughout the day. I carry my bento with me around campus, there is no locker or fridge to hold my personal items. I’m not Sailor Moon, I don’t have an invisible pocket that holds the moon scepter. So I have to make sure it won’t go bad or make my bag smell horrible. So tuna or mayonnaise product is out of the question. Its just good ole’ Pb&J for me. Of course, I like to cut my sandwiches into butterflies or hearts. It reminds me of my mom. >.< And it makes it brings a smile to my face when I go to eat my heart shaped sandwich.

Well it appears that I have stayed up way past my bed time. Blast! I should really get to sleep. I have a late day tomorrow. :/

I’ll end the post with this, do you have any other ideas of what I could pack for lunch? Something easy? lol

    I miss the days when people learned HTML and made their websites, or had Blogger or LiveJournal…before Facebook and Myspace came along. There was this sort of in-group of people who liked web-design and journals. I’m not saying that some weren’t annoying (like the “cam whores” who used slutty pictures of themselves to get lots of attention and followers/subscribers)…but I find people with personal sites/Blogger/LiveJournal to be generally more serious and intellectual than the Facebook-only crowd.

    Like you said, it’s weird that those people mock us for having whole blogs and journals. I don’t know why they think that their whiney “updates” (“OMG IT’S FIFTY DEGREES OUTSIDE WHY????”) are better.

    @Robin, Exactly. I remember the days of Greatestjournal, the first blog I ever had, and how easy it was to find other bloggers. And then it wasnโ€™t until I got this personal domain that I really dove into blogging.

    Hey Kimmy,

    I never thought of Facebook as a micro blog before now. But you are totally right! Those who use Facebook and Twitter are all bloggers of a sort. I like Robin’s comment above, “…I find people with personal sites/Blogger/LiveJournal to be generally more serious and intellectual than the Facebook-only crowd.” Good point! Facebookers are just bloggers who can’t come up with more than a couple of sentences about mundane subjects, while bloggers actually think about the world around them and can muster up a few hundred words on a subject. I will keep this in mind the next time someone gives me that look (you know what I mean!) when I tell them that I blog.

    BTW- I love that outfit! I hope you don’t mind that I steal this idea for my own outfit today. I have a dress just like that, only it’s pink. I love that you paired those boots awesomely tough-looking boots with the cutesy dress. It’s creative!

    @Kristen, Facebookers are bloggers not worthy of the title blogger. XD And thank you, but its not stealing. I totally want to see a picture of your outfit.

    I know exactly what you mean by the “look” people give you when you say you’re a blogger. That look says, “What a freak.” Most people who react like that have no idea what blogging is really about. In their mind they picture some dude wearing huge glasses, surrounded by Star Wars stuff and typing out his dreams of meeting George Lucas, which is shared with other guys like him who also dream of meeting George Lucas. Basically, they’re misinformed.

    I love the range of people I’ve met who blog. Smart people, hilarious people, activists, poets, writers, mothers, sons, people who are going through illnesses or new experiences, travelers, students, teachers, on and on. So many wonderful and wonderfully different people. Including you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Also, that outfit was adorable. I totally lack the style gene. I would love to dress all cute and sassy, but it just doesn’t work.

    @Bea, Right back at you. ๐Ÿ˜€ And I didnโ€™t have the gene either. Believe me. And its not a gene really. To me its actually all about comfort. I only wear what Iโ€™m comfortable in. And layering is really fun. XD Youโ€™d be surprised the many cute outfits that are actually pretty comfortable.

    I definitely get what you mean. I also feel like today, while there are a lot of topic-specific blogs (I also run a beauty blog and there’s been an influx of beauty bloggers recently), there aren’t a whole lot that are just personal journals. Some that I’ve found that are personal journals are written in such a way that its obvious the writer is trying really hard to be amusing and over-the-top that its pretty much impossible to read.

    I am loving that outfit by the way….especially the cardigan! I’m a huge fan of cardigans haha (I wear one almost every day).

    @Melanie, I love cardigans as well. Even if its hot, I still wear one. I donโ€™t like showing my bare arms for some reason. :/

    I AGREE!!! Seems that everyone who did blog kinda faded away and stopped posting. I miss random bloggers!! And I always get the same reaction about blogging=vanity -_____-;

    Your outfit reminds me of Belle for some reason…rose tights and yellow/green tones…

    I see Facebook/Twitter as micro blogging too, especially if they use Facebook notes. Then that’s really like blogging! I have to admit that I don’t openly confess to blogging to people offline ^^;; I love blogging, but I also like the slight feeling of anonymity when only online friends view it.

    And I love your outfit! The dress and bow are cute ๐Ÿ˜€

    Sandwiches are my go-to thing for an easy packed lunch too. I want to get into the habit of preparing meals ahead of time on the weekend, so I can bring some to work. It would save me a lot of money XD;;

    @Cat, I understand not wanting certain people to know. But I post my url on basically every site I join. I say, why the hell not? Let them see that the net isn’t just for fb, twitter or porn. XD

    And thanks, I love it when I discover a nice outfit combination. :3

    I usually pack my lunch the night before, that way I don’t have to deal with it in the morning.

    Thanks for reading and commenting.

    cute outfit! ^_^ I love those boots :DD i’m a total boots girl myself. i know what you mean. a lot of people misunderstand people who blog or post pictures on their own website. they probably think that it’s just for attention but i also disagree.. it’s not that. i mean sure, maybe there’s a small minority of people who post pictures for attention, but the majority of people i dont think do that.

    love rice balls! they’re so yummy!! in taiwanese culture, they’re also part of our cuisine!

    @Joyce, I’ve always wanted to buy a nice pair of boots. But finding the perfect pair was difficult. Finally I found these, and I love them. >.< You're right about that majority. I feel as though the true bloggers out weigh the fake ones. Thanks for reading and commenting.
