Blog-TEMBER 2nd- Ideal Day

Brave Love Blog

I am completely in love with the fall, Texas fall isn’t a great representation of what a fall should be though. But, there are days when the weather is absolutely perfect and that’s how my ideal day begins.

Now I have two versions of this day. The first one involves me never leaving the house. I get up early, open the windows and let in a cool breeze. It’s light sweater weather, so the breeze is just right. And the way the light streams in is just comfortable. As if to say, “Relax, you can do whatever you want.”

No tests, no homework due or work to get up for. No worries.

I’d do some stretches, I haven’t gone to hot yoga since my 30 days ended, but I still like to do some stretching when I have the time. After stretching, I’d do some knitting. I’ve just started double knitting and I’m hoping to finish my Star Wars scarf before it’s summer again. After knitting, I’d do some blogging. I try to condition myself into working at my desk, and for the most part I do. But every once in awhile I wonder over to the couch and make myself comfortable for blogging. I’d then probably do some more crafting, because I just can’t get enough of the stuff.  I’d make something to eat, or there would magically be something yummy to eat already. My sister would make a blueberry cobbler or some type of dessert. She’s becoming a master pastry chef. 🙂 But that’s the gist of version 1.

The second version involves me actually leaving the house. I’d want the boyfriend to join me on this outing, again the weather is just lovely, perfect for a day at the park or the zoo. We’d have a picnic, enjoy the breeze from a blanket while I knitted or read a book with him keeping me company. This day sounds pretty cliche, but I’ve actually had days like this before with him. But it has been awhile since we’ve gone to the park. Too hot or the rain ruins those type of plans. After lounging in the park, we’d go to a used bookstore. Those are the best, I love how long he takes. He can browse the architecture section  for hours before making a selection. Too cute. We’d go for lunch and then share some cake.

Blog-TEMBER 1st- Soy Kimmy

Brave Love Blog

I’ve decided to take part in the Brave Love Blog’s September blog challenge. BLOG-TEMBER! I’m excited because I’ve always started blog challenges before, but have fallen short on them in the past. I’m hoping this teaches me to plan ahead,  I’m gonna try to write more than one post ahead of time and schedule them. I’ve only ever schedule posts once in awhile, so that’s also a challenge I hope to beat.

Here we go…

September 1st: Introduction

Hello, welcome to my blog. I’m Kimmy and I’m excited to get a glimpse into your lives and let you see a bit into mine, so pull up a chair and get comfortable. 2015-08-31-10-20-16_decoI sometimes drone on a bit too much, but that’s just part of who I am. In 11 days I will be 26, and yes that day represents a number of different things but for me, it was the day of my existence…well, as a fully formed person and not as a sea monkey. Odd thing to say….more awkward moments to ahead. Here are a few things about me…..

-I love crafting:  That includes a bunch of things, knitting/crochet, scrap-booking, sewing, card making (ect)

-I’m the middle child, I have two sisters. My older sis is a Graphic Designer and the younger one, who is also my roommate, is a Pastry Chef. We collaborate over here and we just launched our Etsy account. We sell handmade things so feel free to stop by our store and blog. 🙂

– I’m hoping to graduate in the Spring.

-I love visiting bookstores and miss the fact that I haven’t been reading as much as I used to. Please leave some book suggestions. I want to update my To read list and hopefully tackle it.

-I really want to adopt a kitty, but my apartment makes it impossible with the amount of fees that goes into owning a pet at my complex. Thankfully Instagram exists and I can live vicariously through other cat owners.

To summarize, I’m a cat loving, sister having, school going, and all around crafter. Pleased to meet you all. I want this challenge to highlight a positive outlook and  I know I’ll gain inspiration from my fellow bloggers,  I hope I can offer you the same. Have you completed blog challenges before? I’d like to know.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

More Art!

Kat and I went to Half Price Books last week where I found this comic illustrated by Matthew Forsythe. I had several books in my hands that I had planned on buying, but after I found this one I put the others down. I’ve been looking to illustrators a lot lately, they are again very inspiring and I really wish I could express myself creatively through illustrating.

matthewforsythe

Doesn’t mean I won’t attempt it. >.< I’ve been doodling a lot for fun, but I find myself getting frustrated when a picture doesn’t come out as well as I had hoped. The photo is from the comic mentioned above, how adorable is the art style? The artist is a one of the head illustrators that works on Adventure Time. Here’s the synopsis according to the cover of the book:

After eating everything in sight, Voguchi is sent to the market where a chance encounter introduces her to Jinchalo-a mischievous shape shifter. He sets our hungry heroine on a strange adventure into the sky, leaving her home far behind.

A little girl who eats everything?! Totally made for me. Speaking of which, my place is definitely in need of some groceries. -.- I keep putting it off, I’ve been eating cream cheese on graham crackers for dinner. Hopefully on my trip to the Kroger’s I don’t have to deal with a shape shifter. 😛 The ending sort of confuses me, so if you’ve seen it, I’d love to hear your interpretation of the ending. There are no actual words so the entire book is made up ofverabee pictures and your interpretation.  Moving on to Anya’s Ghost. Vera Brosgol is wonderful, she worked on Coraline and Paranorman, I can definitely see similar art styles there.  This and her comic, “What were you raised by, wolves?” is a bit darker. Anya’s Ghost is about a Russian immigrant who is trying to fit in her American high school, she’s bullied a bit and tends to see life in a negative way. And one day, on her way home from school she falls down a hole where she isn’t alone. Frannerd recommended this novel in her vlog a couple weeks ago, and it seemed interesting so I had to go and pick myself up a copy. I’m glad I did. I’m really loving this limited color pallet, along with watercolor. I want to start buying more Copic Sketch markers, they give off a watercolor effect. But they’re pretty pricy so it might take a while for me to get a decent collection. Plus I want to be able to use them correctly and I don’t think I know how to at this point. Also, I’ve been loving these illustrated notebooks from Scout Books. This post totally turned into things I’m currently loving.

I haven’t been keeping up with my disposable camera challenge, but the month isn’t over yet so I will make sure to try and get some nice pictures. I’m excited not knowing how they’re gonna turn out. Thinking back, that’s what I loved about it when I used them on class field trips back in the day. XD Of course, we would always wait years until we got them developed. I don’t intend to wait that long with this one. Let me know if you’re attempting the challenge.  That’s all for now, until next time…

What’s in My Bag?

inmybag

I’ve always loved blog entries where the blogger shares the contents of their bag. I don’t know why, I guess I find the photos interesting so I figured I’d try my hand at posting my own.

On a normal day out, I’ve been using my olive green satchel that I bought from Forever21 a couple months ago. It’s on the smaller side so I can’t carry as much as I usually do. This bag causes me to condense the items I choose to bring with me so I enjoy that. Sometimes I add or remove a few things from the list, but this is what I carried in my bag the last time I went out.

1. Pocket Juice: This is my favorite new thing, as long as I remember to charge it after using it. It gives me enough battery power to last the day after I use my cell to take tons of pictures and navigate me on my travels. It’s a nice thing to have and a good size, I’ve seen smaller but this one is rechargeable by outlet not double AA batteries. I absolutely love it.

2. Keys: These don’t really need an explanation, apartment, mailbox, bike lock. That’s it.

3. Mini wallet: This is what I carry when I use my smaller bag. It has my Q card, debit, license, campus id and some loose change. It’s actually falling apart so I’ll be needing a new one soon. But it’s a nice size.

4. Ipod: I love having my ipod around, it’s an older one so it only holds 1000 songs but it saves me from having to use up my cell battery listening to music.

5. 3DS: I love my Ds, and after buying Bravely Default I have been carrying it around more often but I don’t always carry it with me all the time. Especially when the weather is poop.

6. Altoids: I love mints compared to gum, and I love Altoids, but these are pretty chalky so it does get in my bag…I miss the sour ones but those were more like candy than actual mints. I’ll probably switch back to Tic-Tacs…got to have some type of mints.

7. Nivea bliss chapstick: a kiss of shimmer, I love how soft these leave my lips feeling. But I also have a fruity one that tastes yummy but sort of defeats the purpose of chapstick. So it’s nice to have this on hand, I have very thin lips so lipstick looks odd on me and lip gloss is messy. -.-

8. Star Wars Moleskine: When I use a bigger bag I carry my Star Wars planner but with this bag I like to carry this smaller notebook. It’s the perfect size and having something to write notes or ideas in is important.

9. Cell: HTC DNA. Like everyone else, my cell phone is something I carry with me everywhere. It’s my GPS, and contact with the rest of the world. Makes meeting up with people a lot easier. Of course I remember a time before cell phones were a necessity.

So that’s pretty much all I carry in this particular bag, like I said it changes when I change the bag I use. Now I’m off to make some dinner and finish washing some clothes. I start my first event on Thursday for Houston Press. I’m hopping it goes well, I’m a bit nervous about it. Wish me luck and until next time…

Carry it With You

So I’ve had the song, Dog Days Are Over, stuck in my head already for 3 days straight. I’ve been playing it on repeat and now I plan to get it stuck in your head as well. Mwahahaha!!! But it’s a good song. I love the music video for it. Florence is dressed in a pretty dress and then as the song progresses she resembles a Japanese kabuki actress. My favorite parts are her arm movements in the beginning and then the chorus. I actually have no idea what it’s about, but I like it and the music video so I hope you enjoy it.

So the other day I found out that my high school boyfriend knocked up his girlfriend. That sounds weird out loud. I met him when I was 16 and we dated on and off again and then when I turned 18 it became more serious. Our relationship ended when I turned 19 and that was that. We talked a bit over the years but we were never really “friends”. Can one really be friends with an ex? Anyway, so the girl he dated after me didn’t last very long and I have no idea how long he’s been in a relationship with his current girlfriend but I’m assuming he’s happy. I’m not bothered by this I’m just really shocked. Not by his ability to impregnate just by the idea of him having a child and becoming a father. It’ s just so weird. 0.0 So much time has passed and the boy I knew is long gone. I haven’t spoken to him in ages but we aren’t on bad terms. He was my first boyfriend, the first boy I ever kissed, ect. ect. It’s weird but I’m happy that he’s happy and I wish him and his growing family all the best.

So over at Lazy Explorers, Chloe is hosting an amazing blog hop along with three other great bloggers.  Click the banner above to get to the main the entry and check it out yourself. I’ve already found a bunch of great bloggers thanks to this.

Well I’m exhausted and I have no idea what I’m still doing up. Good morning/night. :3

Ellipsis Obsession

How difficult is it to write about a crazy abused woman who imagines killing her husband? I mean seriously?  -.-
My semester is coming to an end and now all that is left is to edit, revise and study. Oh and turn things in on time. And like the rest of the world I hate deadlines. Some need deadlines to get their work done they need that pressure and blah blah. I on the other hand don’t need pressure. Pressure actually makes me want to procrastinate even more. I don’t work better under pressure I work sloppy under pressure. I hate that stupid saying. I look at what I have to do for my Short Story portfolio and I think, well that’s not a lot. And then when it comes to actually typing things out it turns into an elephant size assignment. I mean even at the moment I should be editing my story but instead I’m blogging about how I should be editing my story. I HATE REVISING!!! I just want to start a new story already. -.- That wouldn’t be wise, but I still want to do it.

So here I am blogging about what I should be doing instead of doing that. I mean I’m stuck. I really hate editing because I still haven’t added an ending to the story but before I can do that I’m revising the 13 pages I’ve written and its just a big jumble of word vomit that I’d rather just delete from my memory along with my laptop’s. But alas, this is my grade I’m talking about. I’m aware that my story isn’t going to be perfect, and at this point it doesn’t have to be. But I do want it to be an interesting read.

*Side note* I’ve been editing for the past hour and I still haven’t gotten up to use the restroom because I’m afraid I will lose focus. Ah fuck- just lost it. POTTY BREAK!!!

How easily I am distracted. Speaking of distractions. Here is a collage thing of things that have sparked my interest this weekend. Some are things I hope to own one day, and some are things I won’t ever own because lets face it I have no money to purchase a few of these items. But lets proceed on to the list starting with…

1. BOOKS!!! You can never have too many books in my opinion and because books exist I am remotely sane. I mean I love having movies and television. But having books makes me happy. Currently I’m reading the Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides which I will discuss in a later entry. It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini – how great is that title? And don’t even get me started on that cover. I mean its wonderful. I love it. And I want it. But only if it is that cover. If it is the movie cover I will scream. Not that I have anything against the movie itself I just despise movie covers. Especially when the books has another cover that looks like that. I mean it just makes me want to buy it, and isn’t that the job of a book cover. To grab your attention and make you pick the book up? And not because there on the cover says (now a motion picture). Barf. I’ve seen the movie and enjoyed it. But now I want to read the book to compare and contrast. Second book, is called The Rules of Attraction by Bret Easton Ellis – yes another book that has its own movie. Grrr but what can  I do about it? Some books need to be made into a film for the greater good of artistic expression. This film was made in 2oo2 and I’ve never watched until now. Because of the book. I was browsing through the shelves at Hastings and discovered the book and then proceeded to look it up once I got home. I read a few pages and now I must finish reading it. The movie was interesting and might hold out in a compare and contrast but we shall see which is better. Ok on to number 2. Bikes- not just any bikes but adorable old fashion mint green bikes. How freaking adorable it that bike? I haven’t owned a bike in quite awhile but it doesn’t stop me from hoping, one day I own one that looks like that. These bikes have gotten pretty trendy, and yes I have fallen victim to the call of the trend and now I want one. XD Ok on to 3. Boots!!! I have been looking for a nice pair of boots since last year. And I found some at JCpenny this weekend. I had hope they would be a little taller but these are so pretty. I stopped myself from trying them on so I would want them even more. But its safe to say that even though I didn’t try them on I still want them just as much if had. Number 4. Teal Rose bag from Jo Totes– I know I’ve mention this bag many time before. I still love it! What more can I say? Number 5. Sweater from Target–  Who doesn’t love Target? They have best selection in bags and clothing. And the best graphic tees. But this is a cardigan that I thought was pretty and you can never go wrong with having more than one gray cardigan. Its my number one color choice when purchasing sweaters or jackets. Unless there is a pretty teal. Last but not least number 6. You’re working Wonders Dress from ModCloth– Dying from cuteness!!! I really wish I could try this dress on once just to see if I looked as cute in it as it looks on my computer screen. I mean it might not even look good on me. I’d rather know then sit here pining for it. >.< Maybe one day I’ll find out. If I get over my issue with buying clothes online. I’ve never bought clothes online before because I like to try them on before committing to buying it. I have an in between sizes body type. It might fit perfectly on top but won’t fit around the midsection or vice versa.

Ok so I guess the pressure is starting to kick in. Must finish portfolio tonight because its due tomorrow!!!! >.< Wish me luck.
