Blog-TEMBER 2nd- Ideal Day

Brave Love Blog

I am completely in love with the fall, Texas fall isn’t a great representation of what a fall should be though. But, there are days when the weather is absolutely perfect and that’s how my ideal day begins.

Now I have two versions of this day. The first one involves me never leaving the house. I get up early, open the windows and let in a cool breeze. It’s light sweater weather, so the breeze is just right. And the way the light streams in is just comfortable. As if to say, “Relax, you can do whatever you want.”

No tests, no homework due or work to get up for. No worries.

I’d do some stretches, I haven’t gone to hot yoga since my 30 days ended, but I still like to do some stretching when I have the time. After stretching, I’d do some knitting. I’ve just started double knitting and I’m hoping to finish my Star Wars scarf before it’s summer again. After knitting, I’d do some blogging. I try to condition myself into working at my desk, and for the most part I do. But every once in awhile I wonder over to the couch and make myself comfortable for blogging. I’d then probably do some more crafting, because I just can’t get enough of the stuff.  I’d make something to eat, or there would magically be something yummy to eat already. My sister would make a blueberry cobbler or some type of dessert. She’s becoming a master pastry chef. 🙂 But that’s the gist of version 1.

The second version involves me actually leaving the house. I’d want the boyfriend to join me on this outing, again the weather is just lovely, perfect for a day at the park or the zoo. We’d have a picnic, enjoy the breeze from a blanket while I knitted or read a book with him keeping me company. This day sounds pretty cliche, but I’ve actually had days like this before with him. But it has been awhile since we’ve gone to the park. Too hot or the rain ruins those type of plans. After lounging in the park, we’d go to a used bookstore. Those are the best, I love how long he takes. He can browse the architecture section  for hours before making a selection. Too cute. We’d go for lunch and then share some cake.

Let’s Knit

knitdoodleI haven’t updated in awhile and  it’s been driving me crazy.  But I’m changing that now, here I am attempting to update a short post. I have so many things that have happened in the past month and I still haven’t had a chance to update about any of it. But for now, I’m just going to post a little update and some random thoughts I’ve been having. Such as knitting! I created my own jellyfish pattern, I updated about it awhile back and I’ve been improving it. I even gave one to a new friend that I met on campus. I’m thinking of selling them on Etsy. But I’m a bit scared about this whole selling items I create. But I’ll just keep practicing and improving.

Another thing I’m excited about is forming the knitting loop on campus! It might take awhile for it to develop into what I hope it turns out to be, but I know it’s heading in the right direction. I’m alsoexcited to meet new people. I’ve made several new friends already this semester and it’s a wonderful feeling. Especially since it hasn’t always been very easy for me.  But I actually have friends that I can meet up with on campus, do you know how much I wished for that when I first started UH. It’s wonderful to have it now, so in that since I’m glad I’m still in school, even though I met two of my new friends outside of school. We just happened to attend the same college.

I said I would do my best to make this a short update, I need to make time for my blog. I’ve missed it, and I still have tons of drafts that are waiting to be finished and posted. Ok, it’s late, until next time….

Tea for You

I had myself a wonderful Valentine weekend and I hope yours was just as wonderful.

plannerweekvalentine

I seem to be filling my planner with more things than just my weekly plans. This is how this past week turned out, with Friday being Valentine’s I had a busy weekend. First off, I worked on Friday so I had to rush home and shower so I could be ready for The Boyfriend. We just stayed in and watched movies and ate sweets. For Valentine’s I made him heart shaped teabags, because he’s a tea fanatic. I also gave him a bike necklace that I bought at Houston Mini Pop Shop. I’ll post about that sometime soon.  And once again, I’m respecting his wishes to not be uploaded to the internet. So his face remains covered. Saturday we met up and went out to eat, we went off in search of discount candy. He bought me some washi tape and scrapbook paper, he’s adorable. We also went bike riding on our quest for cheap candy. He bought me peanut m&m’s, which are my favorite. I made him watch the romantic comedy About Time, an adorable movie btw. I love that he humors me and watches all these girlie movies but I promised him the next time we will watch a thriller or an action movie. XD This is the first time I’ve ever been in a relationship on Valentine’s and it was nice but I’ve always thought the holiday was nice. I don’t think valentinejarthere should just be one day devoted to showing how much you love someone. Family, friends…ect. You should try to show that love every day in some way, it doesn’t have to be in some extravagant way but something as simple as a phone call or a letter can make someone feel good. But I really wanted to take part in the cheesy aspect of this holiday. So instead of giving sweets I went with the heart tea bags. I love crafting, so I picked out different types of teas and deconstructed them and created heart shape bags for the tea leaves. When I gave it to him, he was surprised and seemed to have really liked it. He wanted a cup of tea right then and there. He loves handmade gifts…at least that’s what he’s told me. >.< I also knitted him a heart, because frankly I adore knitting them and it was the perfect decoration for the jar. The necklace was made by an artist I met at Houston Mini Pop Shop. Again, I will mention more about that event in my next post. But just know he is amazing!

This was an amazing weekend, but now I return to work and homework and my feet are killing me. >.<  Today’s song is most fitting…A Day with You by Daniela Andrade [audio:http://numb.honey-vanity.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/ADayWithYou-DanielaAndradeMusic.mp3]

Currently…in a daze

So I bring you another post that is basically an update on life things…enjoy.

Loving :  This knitting pattern. Well, that site in general, but I’ve been loving cable stitches and this is the first scarf I’ve actually started and intend to finish. Christmas present for the bf, trying to hurry and finish it before the nice cold weather disappears. Here’s hoping.
Reading : I should be reading Mrs. Dalloway by Virgina Woolf for my lit class, but I’ve been neglecting it, I’m just really not liking this class. There are books I wish I were reading though. To name a few, Room by Emma Donoghue, An Underachiever’s Diary by Anastas, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams…I could go on but then the list would never end.
Watching : Family Guy. But it’s an old episode, I’m just waiting for the midseason finale of Walking Dead to come on. I know I’m gonna be pissed if they kill off any of my favorite characters.
Thinking about:  My never ending to do list. So many things need to get done in so little time. So much so that it calls for the cliche. I’m tired just thinking about this list. -.-
Not looking forward to : Moving day. I’m worried about how we are going to move my furniture, I have two couches and they are surprisingly heavy. :/ Plus I hate packing and moving, the 15th is fast approaching and it worries me.
Looking forward to : Living in my new apartment and already being unpacked and moved in.
Listening to: Commercials. Just need some background noise.

Here are some instagram pics from the past few months.  Next entry I hope to post will be a vlog, I haven’t made one in awhile and I’ve been wanting to. I’ve also wanted to start the favorite places series that I mentioned several entries ago. Here’s hoping.

As always thanks for reading and commenting.

More than Feng Shui

So this is my last summer spending it at my parent’s house and after 16 years of living in this house I’ve finally gotten rid of a bunch of junk. Seven trash bags later and  I hardly recognize my room.

I haven’t been updating nearly as much as I would like to. I again have several blog drafts started that I’ve yet to finish. But here I am now attempting to update and things just keep getting in the way. Recently I have been scouring the streets of Houston for an apartment. That’s right, my first apartment! Don’t let any one fool you into believing that apartment hunting is an easy thing to do, it might be if you have an excessive amount of money to work with. -.-  But I’m sure even then it is not a fun thing to do and it is even harder because I’m home for the summer, so the past two weekends we have been making trips to Houston and looking at different apartments. This is very exciting, but the hunt has made me very anxious. I’m hoping once it becomes official this anxiousness will subside and all that will be left is determination and excitement. My younger sister will move in with me at the end of September so we’ve been looking at different blogs on how to decorate and organize small spaces. Also, the apartment complex will paint accent walls, so I’m hoping they have colors that fit both my sister and me. Here’s a floor plan of the apartment….of course ours could be flipped. But this was how the model was.

floorplan

So I’m a very impatient person, which is why I become anxious in the first place. Among the other things that I’m waiting for are my new glasses. A couple weeks ago I had an eye exam, and if you’ve read my blog for awhile then you know that optometrists, more like the technicians, are my enemies and that the only good thing that come from eye exams are new glasses. I’ve had my current glasses already for….well I can’t exactly remember for how long but it has been awhile. Kat and I picked out some new frames a week ago and now we have to wait until they are ready. All of this waiting is killing me, at least I have statistics to keep me busy. -.- Pffft. More like knitting, thank goodness for knitting and Bob’s Burgers. Instead of reading all the books I’ve been saving, I’ve been watching Bob’s Burgers and Portlandia over and over again while I knit. I should read before I run out of free time. >.< That and update my blog, I’ve been in a blog funk and I’m hoping I’m getting over it. Blogging is one my favorite things to do.

Song of the day- Mr. Bright Eyes by Rebecca Ferguson. I also listen to Pandora while knitting and blogging and this song came up and now I can’t stop listening to it. [audio:http://numb.honey-vanity.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/RebeccaFerguson-MrBrightEyesAudi.mp3]

I’m off to make a smoothie, I should study seeing how class was canceled tonight and all. Motivation!!!!

Currently Creative

Kellie over at Give a Girl a Blog started a really cute Currently segment over at her blog. So naturally, I decided to take part in it as well. 😀 She is one of my favorite scrapbookers. I’m always in the mood to create after visiting her blog and her current post totally inspired me. So here I am reporting what I’m currently working on…or attempting to work on. >.< … continue reading this entry.

Knitting in Loops

My sleep schedule is screwed up, so hopefully after finally finishing up this entry, that I started back in October, I will go to sleep and wake up tomorrow at a reasonable time to finish up some Gulf Coast interview questions. Need at least two more.

So a few months ago I went to this adorable shop called Knitting in The Loop.  After going in I have decided that I want to live there. Not just because of all the pretty colors of yarn, the building itself is pretty amazing. Aside from Kaboom, a book store I wouldn’t mind living in, Knitting in the Loop is perfect. Either one or above Berripop in Rice Village. I would love living there I would also require access to all of the frozen yogurt but I’m sure that wouldn’t be a problem. I’m their number one customer. 😀

Anyway, going back to knitting this store was great. Pricey, but still pretty awesome. I wouldn’t mind working there, or even just dropping by to knit and ask for some tips. I’ve been wanting to learn how to crochet but I’ve yet to discover a tutorial online that will make this happen. I just can’t get the tension right.  But after my knitting date with my new friend Patrick, I’ve decided I need more crafty friends. So I’ve decided to create a knitting circle. I will start on campus first and then work from that. I’m sure other knitters know other knitters/crocheters. Right now it is still in the beginning stages of planning. So I’ll discuss it more once I’ve thought it out completely. But I’m actually really excited to start this and I’m hoping it is successful. I should be updating Mind-Speaks about my current projects, but that is actually in the middle of some changing plans as well. So for this entry I will share what I am knitting. For Christmas I made my sister Kat a basket weave scarf. I fell in love with the pattern and was excited to make myself one as well. For Kat’s I used two different colors and had to weave in the loose strands, my mistake was not weaving in as I went along. This time I weave in as I go, it makes the scarf easier to work with once it starts getting longer. I thought this pattern would be difficult to do, but it is actually pretty simple. If you know basic knitting skills, knit and purl, then you can knit this scarf. There are different patterns you can follow. I got my pattern on this site. I also made myself some matching hand warmers. The yarn I’m using now works much better. I don’t really put much thought into the yarn I use and I really should. Thanks to Patrick for pointing such obvious stuff out. I’m not a pro knitter, I still have a lot of things to learn, but this pattern makes me feel pretty fancy. :3

Here is another Shel Silverstein poem. The Silver Fish. I’m not sure why I chose this one to share, I just though it was funny. Tomorrow is New Years eve and I plan on posting another entry, but we shall see what happens. Good night. 🙂

Chipped No More!!!

Like I’ve said before in this entry and in this vlog, I have had crooked teeth for a long time. So things like this just make me so happy. I’ll post some pictures of my improved smile as soon as I can get my hands on Mija’s good camera. My camera doesn’t do well with zooming. Anyway, I’ve been in such a good mood today even though my jaw has been hurting. (no gross jokes please, that means you Mija) I’m not sure why it hurts last weekend I was eating some crackers and then all of a sudden the left side of my jaw started hurting. It doesn’t always hurt, only when I try to open wide. -.- (again no gross jokes please) Sometimes eating and brushing the back teeth hurt. But I’m really hoping its just like a neck crick and will just go away with time. -.-

SHOW AND TELL

So last weekend I went back to Houston to visit my grandmother.(An entry about that later) Mija took us to FIT, I love this store so freaking awesome. It sells things from Japan, and for Christmas Mija surprised me with a bento. And then last weekend I bought a notebook and these cute stamps. This store is pretty cheap, items are usually 2 bucks.  The stamps I bought are so freaking adorable, I just had to get them. One is of a sewing machine and the other is a ball of yarn and it says handmade. I couldn’t resist. >.<

So the other day I was reading, Elsie’s blog and this entry really peeked my interest, because of course FREE STUFF.  I really like the bags on this site. Especially the teal bag, too bad that wasn’t the one offered in the giveaway. But anyway, I just really like these bags. I like the colors, the size, its so freaking cute. However, I’m not too crazy about the price. 89$ >.< bleh. So the chance of getting that bag is pretty slim. That is a lot of money to spend on a bag.  But to make matters better, I went to Target today, and you know what I found? A teal bag for 22 bucks. It isn’t the same one on Jo Totes but I like it nonetheless. It has a bunch of pockets and its a great size too. So even though I can’t get the rose teal bag, the one I bought today is pretty awesome. I’m not usually a fancy bag person, but this bag was just adorable. And I was worried that if I didn’t buy it, I would never see it again!!!! lol Ok I know pretty dramatic for a bag. But what can I say?

So I update MS about the fingerless mittens I learned how to make.  As you can see, lately I’ve been obsessed with the color teal and with yarn. So I decided to combine those two things and makes something. I only know how to make the fingerless mittens and scarves, but I plan to learn how to make hats as well. I tried making a 3d heart, but it kept slipping off the needle and pissed me off. >.< So I decided to try again some other time. lol So my break is coming to an end, and that means going back to Houston. I’m not looking forward to waking up at a certain time and doing homework and catching metro. But I am a little excited to go back to school. I plan to make friends this semester… well attempt to anyway. -.-
