Hey {You} There

So I was planning on typing out a rant entry, but then I thought I should instead update with a more positive entry. So I trashed the other one, took a couple ootd photos and then started cooking chicken. Submitted today’s outfit to Modcloth’s Style Gallery.

So some good things happened today, my Bio test was pushed back two weeks! Thank goodness for that, now I can study for anotheroutfit3-3-14 test that I have on Thursday. But naturally I avoid studying and instead catch up on updating the blog. >.< I can’t help it, it had to be deleted over the weekend because something was causing it to glitch. Thankfully, Mija was able to bring it back to life and now I can update it again. Kat is spending the night with the weirdos so I had the place to myself. I totally forgot she wouldn’t be here so I attempted to cook dinner thinking she’d be home to make sure it was ok. It turned out pretty yummy for my first time cooking chicken. I was worried about not cooking it long enough. But I managed on my own and it feels good. Yay for becoming slightly more independent! That means, there is hope that my possible future children won’t be stuck with a mom who can only cook them different types of eggs.  I’ll leave dessert to Kat. So on Sunday, the boyfriend and I spent the day looking for a gift for his younger sister. She’s 5 or 6, he doesn’t get to spend lot of time with her so he wasn’t quite sure what she would like. We stood in the toy section at Target and he said, “I don’t want to buy her a gender specific toy. All this pink stuff, she will already have society telling her what toys a little girl should want to play with. She has enough dolls and such and I would like to give her something educational.” I thought that was nice, nothing gender specific. I mean, I liked playing with dolls as a child, but I also enjoyed playing with action figures and video games. We then went to the book section and browsed for awhile, he then noticed the film Coraline, I had him watch it a couple months ago and he really liked it. I told him about the book and how Neil Gaiman was one of my favorite authors. He then thought about getting both the film and novel. I thought it was such a great idea, start her young and show her that she should read the bakedchickennovel before watching the film adaption of a novel. However, we could not find a copy of Coraline, which sucks because I still think it’s such a cute gift idea. Plus I didn’t think he liked the movie that much, but I’m glad he did. Well anyway, even though we knew it was going to rain we biked all the way from my apartment to Target and then to Rice Village. I didn’t want to get stuck in the rain with my bike, but he’s all about not wanting to waste time getting somewhere. It was hot and really humid that day but after we spent some time at Half Price we went to Jason’s Deli and by the time we got out it was already 6 something and it was freezing outside. I did not bring a jacket, because like I said it was hot, but he did the boyfriend thing and gave me his jacket to wear. We then decided to wait for a bus, however the bus we needed to get home does not run on Sundays. So we had to catch one to the Med Center and then a bus from there to get to my apartment. I felt bad that he was walking around without a jacket, luckily we made it to my apartment. We agreed to not venture out on a rainy day again…unless we both had jackets and umbrellas. Silly boys.

I’d like to direct your attention to my sidebar, specifically the links under Blogger Friends. I made a new friend, and she blogs!!!! She’s so adorable and we have a lot of things in common. One being that we go to the same school, I found her on instagram. Hope that doesn’t make me weird. >.< Her name is Melissa aka Cloudy Chase. We met up last week and are hoping to make plans during spring break when we have more time. Her work schedule is opposite from mine, so meeting up during the week isn’t exactly easy. I’ve always found it difficult to make friends with chicks. Aside from my sisters I only have two chicks that have been my friends since high school. But so far I have yet to make any lasting college friends. So here’s to making new friends and attempting to cook more dishes!!! That’s all for now, until next time. 🙂

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Macaroons/Macaron

I don’t know why, but I’m in a bit of a blogging lag. I guess finals left me feeling a bit lazy and not wanting to work on my computer. Good news is I passed all of my classes, now just have to keep moving forward. This summer I’m taking statistics and a Spanish class. I’m a bit scared, not sure how this will turn out.

So I’ve been planning on visiting a shop that sells macaroons for awhile now. And last week I finally got around to trying this shop. So cute, but they didn’t have all of the flavors that I wanted to try. But that just means I can go again and again until they do.  I updated awhile back about trying to make these little boogers. So tricky, but they still came out rather yummy. My sister made ours with a jelly glaze filling. The ones we tried at the store had a cream filling. It’s not something I will eat often, but every once in a while they will make for a nice treat. I think buying tiramisu is a lot more satisfying.

So the flavors I tried were:
Chocolate
Chocolate Hazelnut
Blueberry
Pistachio
Cookies and Cream
Chocolate Raspberry

Currently…Crazy

So here’s another currently creative post, I’ve actually have quite a bit to share with you.

So I’m not much of a cook/baker. I’m horrible at following cooking instructions and I’m very impatient. I do however enjoy being an official food taster. I have no problem eating any of the delicious foods my sister Kat decides to make. And the great thing about having a sister who plans on becoming a pâtissier is getting to eat all of her yummy creations. Once I discover a recipe for her to tackle she usually always decides to try it out. The results are always wonderful and it’s always fun to see her mind work while attempting new recipe.

Happy Thanksgiving…

Holy crap, it has been far too long since I last updated. Several blog worthy events have been piling up. But when I finally get a chance to update, I get like two lines in and then have to either finish reading a book for my lit classes or I am too tired and save it for tomorrow. But “tomorrow” never seems to come. I still have to finish writing about my sister’s wedding. :/

I spent this holiday at my parent’s house, I haven’t seen them since Mija’s wedding so we definitely needed the family time. I’ve been super lazy, I didn’t do any reading like I should have. I just watched movies and ate….a lot. But I have been knitting. I’m knitting a scarf for a friend as a Christmas gift. I’m trying out a new pattern and so far it looks really good. I am pretty proud of it. XD I’ll share pictures over at Mind-Speaks…after I give it to her of course. Thanksgiving dinner was amazing and I hope everyone else had a great holiday. Both my parents worked on Thursday so we had our dinner on Friday. But we also went to Walmart for Black Friday. And people are insane. They were similar to zombies feasting on a body. I was shocked. You should have seen how crazy they were over just pillows and towels. I think some people were just grabbing crap just so someone else wouldn’t get it. They took some satisfaction in seeing a person disappointed because they didn’t get what they were aiming for. How sick is that? Other times I saw people eyeing carts, as if they planned on grabbing things out of them. O.O Why are people crazy? There was even a bit of drama while we waited in line for a TV. It involved people who let family members cut and a woman who would leave her cart in line to save her spot. As long as my mom got her TV and we weren’t injured, I didn’t care what other people were doing. My siblings waited in line for movies and video games. They managed to grab two copies of Dishonored, two of Black and White Pokemon, Dance Central 3, Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption. And then several dvds, great loot all in all.

So now that my lazy holiday is over I now need to concentrate on finals and essays. My last final is on the 14th and then I’ll be done for the semester. I have two essays to write, due next week and two tests this week. Oh joy. I wish all my essay writing for the semester was done. I have no idea what to write. I need to start planning it out seeing as they are both due next week. Pffft great. This sucks.I can’t believe it has taken me this long to post another entry. I plan on making haul video soon. After I finish writing essays and whatnot, so look forward to that. I’ll try to update soon, I still have a lot of drafts to finish.

So, what did you look forward to eating this year at Thanksgiving? Mine was pumpkin pie and green bean casserole. :9 Thanks for reading, next entry I should have pictures and music to share.

BirthMonth- 23

As always, my birthday was a blast. I didn’t think there was any way to out do last year’s Star Wars exhibit. But boy was I wrong. I was born on September 11, 1989 at 3:something p.m. XD

My family completely surprised me this past weekend and came to Houston to take me out to dinner. They bought me balloons, donuts and peanut M&M’s. I wasn’t expecting anything and they just went above and beyond. I had no idea. One of the bigger surprises was the gift Jody and Mija bought me. Not only is Mija taking me to see the musical Beauty and the Beast but they bought us each a 3DS. I’m obsessed with my DSlite and never even thought of upgrading to the 3Ds, not until it became obsolete anyway. So this completely blew my mind. Jody got the new 3DSxl, and the screen is HUGE! My sister’s and I each got the first edition and I’m already obsessed with it.  We only have Mario Kart 7 but it is so freaking cool. I’m actually not a fan of the 3D feature, which I know defeats the main purpose of the upgrade. But that’s not the only cool new upgrade. I love the streetpass feature. I take it with me when I go to school and I usually pass someone with one on campus. I’ve only had four people, but that is pretty awesome. Of course now every time I pass someone I think to myself, I wonder who has a 3DS? I’m determined to get those puzzle pieces!! XD This month has just been amazing, so much has happened and is happening and I’m just loving every minute of every day. So this is what I wore, I actually really love this outfit and I’ve worn so many different variations of this outfit but I never get tired of it. I always feel confident when I wear it, so I thought this would be the perfect outfit to wear on my birthday. When I got home I ended my birthday with Mija and Jody. They bought me Potbelly and a cake and sang happy birthday to me. This year’s birthday was just surprise after surprise. It reminded me how lucky I am to have my family. They are just the best!

Tomorrow, (later today I mean) I’m going to a reading that is being held on campus. ZZ Packer will be one of the authors giving a reading. Apparently she is teaching on campus this semester. Had no idea. So I thought since I’m going through creative writing withdrawals I should attend as many reading events as I can. And this one is on campus and I’ll be there anyway so why not? It’s starts at 5:30 and my class ends at 5:15 so I should be able to go.  And then Thursday I’m having dinner with my friend Liz, I’m excited I haven’t seen her since May.

Well I hope everyone is having a great week. 😀

Thanks so much for reading.

New Hair Same Me

So I finally got my hair cut. I believe it’s been about 2 years since my last hair cut. o.o Crazy I know.

I’m always a little hesitant when it comes to getting my hair cut. I feel like if I go in thinking it will come out horrible then it won’t come as a shock if it does. Pessimistic I know. But I also try to remember that hair grows back and I will just have to deal with it until it does. People definitely put too much pressure on their hair. I think this is the shortest I’ve ever gotten it cut. I do sort of miss my long hair. But it’s refreshing to have all of that weight off. My hair is thick and there is always a lot of it. It takes forever to straighten it so I do like the new length. What I do hate about it is the length of my bangs. The girl who cut my hair, cut my bangs way too short so they look extremely awkward if I wear them down. And every time I straighten my hair I get a little angry at her. She didn’t even cut them all the same length, one side is a bit shorter and then there are a few random strands longer than the rest it is a mess. But again I need to remember that it will grow out and I will just have to find some way to pull them back until they do. The girl who cut my hair graduated with me and she’s only been cutting hair for a year. So of course she wouldn’t be great at it. It was actually really weird to have someone I went to school with shampooing and cutting my hair. She was going to cut a little girls hair but suddenly gave that customer to another hair dresser who was busy straightening her own her instead of focusing on the customers. -.- No one in my hometown can cut hair. After I finish showering and I start to straighten my hair I get a bit peeved when I see just how short my bangs are. They are so short that it makes pinning them back difficult. Too short even for a headband. So I do get a a bit frustrated. But whatever because it will grow back.

This is my mantra for the next couple of weeks…wait how fast does hair even grow? According to Google, it grows half an inch every month. -.- Which is bullshit, because before this hair cut I had a problem with keeping my bangs always being too long. I’m going to be frustrated for a while.[audio:http://numb.honey-vanity.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/SummerHouse-GoldMotel.mp3|titles=SummerHouse-GoldMotel] Thanks to Pandora I’ve been finding a bunch of great new music. It makes walking to school more fun.

Today was my first day of class. I’m just taking one, a math class, and I’m going to to PASS it this summer. That should actually be my new mantra. -.- This class is a 6 week class, I’ve never taken a 6 week class before so I hope I can keep up with the lessons. I’m not worried about homework or the online quizzes, it’s the in class tests and quizzes that I’m worried about. But I’m going to work hard so I can get this over with. My class ends July 9th, so I’ll have about 6 weeks of summer before my classes at UH start, which is awesome. I hope my sister Kat is able to spend a week in Houston with me before her fall semester starts. Today was fun, after my class I met up with Kat and we had lunch together. BC, aka baby college, went through a lot of remodeling since the last time I was enrolled. It looks really nice, I’ll make sure to take pictures the next time. Of course its not like I have any before pictures but still I want to show it off. Anyway, they now have this little grill and that is where we bought our lunches. I bought a chicken salad sandwich. I have a chicken salad sandwich bucket list going on. It’s my goal to try one from every place that has it on the menu. Pot Belly is the champ and I think it will always be the best in my book. But today’s sandwich was pretty good for $4. I got spinach, lettuce and cucumbers on it. :9 It was a good day, I came home and took a satisfying nap on the couch. Love naps. Well I’m off to read…wow it is such an awesome feeling to be able to snuggle up with a book. 😀

So how do you handle  bad hair cut? Do you high tail it out of the salon and then wear hats until it grows out? I wanna to know, and if you have any advice on working with bangs that were cut way too short let me know. :3

KABOOM!!!

So I’ve heard about this amazing book store called Kaboom and I’ve been wanting to check it out for a while now.

But the last time I was close to visiting it I got confused and saw that the store was closed down. I thought the store was no longer around. Turns out, they just changed locations. So I went with Jay and I went out to lunch, Potbelly, and then found Kaboom Books. I bought two books, Lust by Susan Minot and a review copy of Fruit by Brian Francis. I love review copies, because they usually say on the cover do not sell. And here I am buying it. mwhahaha 🙂 It was a lot of fun, of course I felt bad because he had just taken his French final and was extremely tired.  And then he came over and we watched Amélie. Not the best movie to get French off his mind but I love that movie. Today we went out to lunch again, he gets so excited when we find new places to eat. He had trouble deciding between hamburgers and pizza. Even though he has been craving Chinese food for awhile now. XD We shared a large pizza at Two Guy’s Pizzeria and then we walked around Rice Village. A lot of great shops around here. We went to a store called PH Design Shop, he bought some notebooks which is awesome because now I know where to buy them for future reference. I feel as though I find a typewriter everywhere I go. They are so trendy right now. How freaking cool is the one pictured below? After that we just walked around Rice Village some more. Great area. Unrealistic prices though. -.-  He wanted some coffee so we stopped at this French bakery and had some tiramisu. Really yummy. (Quick side note: Notice the robot walking on my picture? Cute huh? The artist can be found here. I just made it into a brush, I feel as though when I post group pictures it is always odd looking because of the bare corners. So I plan on adding cute drawings to the pictures. ) After that I just listened to him talk about music. He is a very fascinating person. His taste in music is just all of over the place. I love listening to him ramble on and on about anything really. Today it just happened to be about music.  And  that was my day, I always have fun with him. So I have a lot of things to look forward to after Thursday. I’m almost done with finals, I have a math final on Thursday and I cannot wait to put it behind me. And I’m introducing Jay to my parents and my younger sister this Friday. I’m super excited and can’t wait for them to meet him. After that he will officially be my boyfriend. We’ve only been dating a month but I’m ready to make it official. Then the following weekend I meet his parents and celebrate his sister Jessica’s birthday. And then we have a week of writing for the Boldface conference. And then I move back home for the summer. I’m really gonna miss being able to see him and go on dates. Hopefully he can visit now and then. Plus he suggested we send each other letters. How freaking adorable is that? And then come June it’s back to school with me. Yup I’m taking summer courses. -.- Ok well I have no idea why I stayed up this late. I am crazy. I’m off to sleep the day away. >.<

So what are you looking forward to? Finals being over? Summer? A party? Let me know. 😀

Instagram and More

So I’ve met one of his sisters. One down and two to go and then of course there is his mom and dad to win over.

I hope they like me. I mean there is nothing worse than having your family hate the person you are dating. I can’t wait to introduce him to my parents. I think they will really like him. All in due time. I know I’ve been on cloud 9 recently because of him. And I’m trying to keep my head on straight. I still have a life that doesn’t have to revolve around him. Even though I want to talk to him and see him all the time. I realize that is a dangerous feeling to have. But I’ve been really happy since I’ve starting seeing him. Not that I was unhappy before. Because I wasn’t, its just now I wake up with a huge smile on my face. Also he’s actually been a motivation to get my homework done faster as well. So that is always nice. And whenever I’m around him, he makes me want to journal more. I want to work on writing more stories for things like TFL and Boldface. >.< Anyway so last Saturday, I volunteered at the Houston Indie Bookfest. It was a lot of fun, I stood behind the CLMP table. In the beginning  I was unsure and timid. I had no clue as to what they wanted me to do but luckily there was another volunteer at the table to assist me. But once he left I had to step  it up. By the end of my second shift I was charismatic and a terrific sales person. I greeted passersby and helped in anyway I could. I even started asking if they were writers and what genre was their forte. It was pretty fun, I really love the indie fest. It reminds how much I love the writing community. After my shift ended, I had lunch with Jay, his sister and her boyfriend. We met at the Hobbit Cafe. It was fun, his sister seemed really shy and didn’t talk much. But I’m hoping she opens up more as she gets to know me. But it was really fun and I was happy to meet one of his family members. Especially since the night before he had met one of my sisters. After we went to lunch with his sister we headed to the park. We just walked around and then sat on a bench and talked and enjoyed the day. Then we headed to Berripop where we shared a cup of frozen yogurt. And then we walked down University street and visited Urban Outfitters and Half Price Books. He then asked me if I wanted a book or anything, I always feel awkward when someone offers to buy me something. I don’t know why but I just feel weird. I’m not talking birthday gifts or Holiday gifts, but those this-made-me-think-of-you gifts. They are great but I won’t ask for anything. We saw the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories and he offered while I politely declined. Come Monday he went back and bought it for me. Great first gift if I do say so myself. He’s so adorable. Also his mom made me blueberry cookies and they were delicious. We’ve already made plans in May to meet each others parents. He meets mine May 11th and I’ll meet his May 19th. I’m excited but extremely nervous, I hope everyone likes everyone. XD

Another thing I would like to share with you is…drum roll please…I finally got my braces off. And it is so weird. I have to wear a retainer and it is the most annoying thing. My gums are pretty sore and I think I went a little floss happy and irritated them a bit. Now they are just angry. :/ But I am happy  that I finally got them off, of course I am gonna kind of miss having the different colors and sharing this experience with my younger sister. We both had braces and now that I don’t she jokingly says we aren’t brace face buddies anymore.  She’s funny. I find smiling very awkward. As you can see in the picture on the left. I have an awkward smile. But in my defense my cheeks and gums were already hurting and tired. I’ll get used to smiling just like I’ll get use to this blasted retainer. >.< And then after that all I have to do is go to the dentist so they can fix my front tooth and whiten the hell out of them. Do not be fooled by the picture. My teeth are not white. They only reason the picture depicts that is because of the sunny room and picture effect on instagram. My username for instagram is Kimmyjupiter if you’re interested in knowing that.

Okay well I’ve stayed up long enough. But let me end by asking you this…do you find smiling awkward or difficult when taking pictures? Because my entire face just tenses up and just looks horrible.

Back in Texas

So I had a great Spring Break, I just wish it was longer.

So I went to New Orleans, it was my first time out of Texas and it was so much fun. I got to meet the rest of Jody’s family and visit a different state. I got to ride a ferry walk around the French Quarter. Not to mention eat some delicious food. Went to a craw fish boil at Jody’s brothers house. And then had beignets at Cafe De Monde, I have a lot of video footage to sort through so I’ll end up putting it in a vlog sooner or later. We stayed at with Jody’s dad. His house was so pretty. They had the most comfortable carpet I have ever felt in my life. I always feel strange when I stay at someone elses house. Technically I have two homes since moving in with Mija and Jody. Both feel like home for me, just in different ways. The New Orleans air didn’t like my hair. And I thought Texas hated it the most, but nope. The first day it was ok because it was nice and cool but extremely windy. I was all about comfort on this trip.  Oh yeah walked down Bourbon street, yup saw a bunch of nudie pics. But before that we saw one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen- St. Louie Cathedral. Is that an oxymoron? Or is it irony? XD Well it doesn’t matter, it was so beautiful. The whole trip was just fantastic. It was a nice getaway. Minus the fact I brought home a cold as a souvenir. But now I know why people travel. A change of scenery, that’s probably why people run away from their problems. I didn’t think about any home work assignments that entire weekend. It was nice to come back home and then have an entire week to just catch up on dreaming….even though I should have done  homework. :/ I just didn’t want to do anything, but I did go to the rodeo. But I’ll talk about that in a later post. I actually have a lot to talk about, but have to finish this post first. >.<

I’m so unorganized, I let too much time pass and then other things happen that I want to share but I can’t put them all in one post.  That would be even more messy. How do you keep your blog post organized? Or do you just type whatever whenever?

To The Zoo!!!

First off. I want to thank the readers who followed me on bloglovin. If that’s you, then leave your name in the comments so I can follow you back. I probably already have, but just in case let me know. Or if you have a different site you would like me to subscribe to let me know also.

So we went to the zoo on Saturday. Jody and Mija have memberships and they let Kat and me tag along. 😀 We walked to the train and I personally like the light rail so much more than the bus It’s faster and has more seating. If only the rails were all over Houston then public transportation would be a lot more fun.  We were on a time crunch so we had to wake up early. But we managed to see everything I wanted to. Elephants, peacocks, orangutans and the red panda are all the animals I was hoping to see.  As you can see from my gif playing in the sidebar, the red panda was one of my favorite animals I saw this weekend. So adorable. The mommy and baby orangutans were just so cute. The mom was named Cheyenne  and she is a surrogate mother to abandon babies. Her newest baby is Aurora. She had the cutest case of bed hair. When we first went around to their exhibit we couldn’t see them. They were laying down behind the pillars. The playground was decorated for Aurora’s first birthday. They had birthday presents all over  the place, Cheyenne took it as her duty to open and consume whatever was in the box. There was also this hilarious lemur who kept spreading his arms upwards. Too funny. Once I saw him I couldn’t help but sing, I like to move it move it. It was the same type of lemur that sings that song in the movie Madagascar.

After we left the zoo we walked back to the train and took it to Les Girvals for the best bahn mi sandwiches ever. Ok, so I haven’t really tried any other places. But these sandwiches are so freaking yummy and I feel like it just can’t any better than this. The BBQ is marinated in this amazing sauce plus the sandwiches are only 2.50 so whenever I have money I head over there and treat myself. Especially since now I know how to get there from my house. I did try the place on campus but it was horrible. There was this horrible hummus spread on in instead of the yummy sauce that makes the sandwich great. This is also probably the reason I don’t try any other restaurants.

So do you have a restaurant that you prefer?
