~Book Haul: Comics~

Here’s a book haul for you! Let’s just say I couldn’t help myself when purchasing all of these over the last month or so. As usual, here’s my disclaimer, I’m still  learning how to edit so forgive me for the awkward narration. I recorded it separately from the video and I just finally had to use what I had. It was getting ridiculous.

I didn’t really go into too much detail about any of these, my bad. It was mostly about sharing the haul with you, but here are the links to each of the books I mentioned in the video. In case you were interested in reading them for yourself.

Thanks for watching.

~Travel~ Sister’s Bday Weekend

Last weekend my sisters, mom, and I went on a trip to Austin for my younger sister’s 24th birthday. She works at a hotel and she get’s mega discounts so she got us a room in a beautiful hotel in downtown Austin.

Two queen sized beds with the most comfortable bedding ever! This 4 day weekend was the perfect time for our little trip. I got off early on Friday and then Kat and I headed to Mija’s place to pack up in her car. (GPS and whatnot) We got to Austin late, so we had a burger at IN-an-Out and then headed to the hotel room.

We woke up early  and started off our day by, of course, going to Modcloth! And this time I tried on more clothes and….even bought something! I bought my first Modcloth dress and I’m hooked. I sort of wish I bought dress #2 that I also liked, but Modcloth is pricey. Even with the discounts, due to Memorial Day weekend, 15% off everything…20% off of things over $100, plush FREE shipping due to ordering in the store.

I loved wearing these dresses, but it was hard to choose between the two of them. They were the same priced and they both had pockets. POCKETS! We all know that makes a dress better. The yellow one was a bit tight fitting, had I eaten a meal, it would have been too tight for comfort. But the larger size was too big on the top. I’m in between sizes…so if they could have something in between a medium and a large…that would be great. Oh well, it also depends on the dress. Because the one I did buy was a medium and it was a perfect fit. Not too tight, not too loose. They made me feel pretty. Another reason I didn’t buy the elephant dress, was even though the print was pretty, I don’t think it was very “me”. I’d probably pair it with a different color cardigan. I may purchase it in the future… hopefully when it’s on sale. Or perhaps they will have the same style of dress in a different print that is more me.

We stayed in downtown for the entire weekend, walking everywhere! We even made the walk to Book People, a cool book store located not too far away, but in the Texas heat it was a bit taxing. Plus, we had to make the walk back to our hotel so we were pretty tired after that. We made our way back to the hotel to cool down and just relax a bit.

It was a lot of fun spending time with my sisters and mother, our schedules are so different that we don’t always get to see each other. I hope Kat had a great bday weekend, I was happy we got to spend that weekend with her.  That’s all for now…until next time. 🙂

~Book Haul~ Jan. to Feb.

Here’s my belated Jan/Feb book haul, it has been in the works for awhile now and I finally had time to film it. I had the camera zoomed in way too close, I usually like to have the bookcase framed differently. I dunno, I was off. But like Audrey mentioned in her Spring Break entry, I too think videos add a little something extra to the blog.

Anywho, here’s a list of the books I mentioned in the video!

What books have you recently purchased? Can you read more than one book, switching between them? I’m curious to know your book buying rules as well.

~Oct.-Dec.~ Book Haul

It took me a while to finally finish editing this video but here it is! I sort of took a break from buying books during those months and wasn’t reading as much either. But hopefully, I’ll return to reading more books, I didn’t reach my goal of 50+ books in 2016 so now I’ll try again in 2017…haven’t gotten off to a great start but no sense in giving up. 😀

Here are the books I mentioned in the video:

Going to try to get back on a vlogging schedule and try to read more. I have a Book Outlet Haul coming up and I can’t wait! What books have you been reading lately?

Thanks for reading

~July Book Haul~

Here are the books I bought in the month of July, and I can tell you that I have made up for the lack of books in July jut in the first two weeks of August. But in July I just was taking it easy and trying to make time to read the books on my TBR.

I have three videos in the making and I’m hoping to make some time to get them filmed and edited, but I also have a few workshop possibilities that I need to work on….aside from my full time job. It’s all about balance, and as long as the other things don’t disturb my day job, then I’m good. But here’s hoping this outside stuff works out. I hope you’re doing well, what are you reading or what have you recently purchased?

~June Book Haul~

I present my June book haul!!! I have a total of 7 books this month and I read 4, so I think I’m doing pretty good. If I don’t enjoy the book then I get rid of it. I don’t see the need in forcing myself to read a book I’m not enjoying. I’m just trying to keep my book collection under control.

Here are the books I mentioned in the video:

Big things are happening and I’ll update about it as soon as I can, but for now know that I am extremely happy.

Happy reading

Love of My Life

Above is my May book haul, but I also want to focus on the new love of my life. Vera Rose Robertson, my first niece. I absolutely adore this little baby and I cannot get enough of that new baby smell. She is beyond precious and it’s still really surreal to have her here. Ever since my sister got married, I’ve thought about the day they would have children. But now that, that child is actually here, I can’t believe it.

I knew she would be adorable and I knew that I would love her with all of my heart. But I never stopped to think about how much.  I mean, it’s love, you don’t normally associate an amount with it. It just is.

But I love this tiny person more than I thought was possible.

I also love this transformation that my sister has gone through, first with being pregnant and now as a full-fledged mother. She’s had motherly instincts all along, being the oldest of three girls, she’s watched over me and our younger sister for years. But now she’s the mother of her own child and motherhood agrees with her.

I hope to be as involved with my little Vera Rose as often as I can. Taking on the role of a tia has also changed me, there aren’t many children in my life. Aside from the many children I see when I work as a birthday party coordinator at the museum. Working there as giving me a soft spot for kids, but being an aunt is completely different. Especially, since this is my sister’s baby. I can’t express enough how warm and fuzzy I feel. My heart melts with every smile and fart this little person makes. I can only imagine how I’ll feel when I have a child.

I can’t wait to hold and inhale her tomorrow!!! They weren’t kidding, babies smell so good, new and like the color pink. That’s right, if the color pink had a smell it would be new babies.

~Planner Loves~

plannerthumbnail

I’m sure everyone in the planner community has discovered these new Recollections planners. They are available only at Michael’s and they are adorable.

I am in love with them mine. But there are a few cons as well as the pros, I made a video that mostly just went over all of the things that I love about the planner and then went over a few other planner goodies that I got for the new planner. Clear stamps anyone? I absolutely love clear stamps.

Here are a few cons I failed to mention in the vlog.

  • Misaligned rings:

With most ringed binders ring gaps are a problem. I checked all the mint binders and chose the one with the less ring flaws. I advised you to look through them as well before purchasing. However, gaps are to be expected…especially with cheaper option binders .

  • Laying down flat:

Now, this is easily fixed with time. You will have to train it, not a huge deal though.

  • Pen loop:

It was mentioned, but sort of glossed over. I would have preferred it to be elastic so it would fit any pen, but it’s too large and your pen might fall out.

At the moment, these are the only ones I feel are the main cons. I haven’t owned it long enough to discover more. I’ll keep you updated.

Lovely Happenings

society6tote

I purchased this amazing tote bag from Society 6 by Evie Seo. And yes, this tote is HUGE!!! I ordered the 18×18 but you have your choice of 13×13 or 16×16, which is probably the size I will order the next time. Yeah, I plan on ordering another tote down the line because there were a few other designs I can’t live without. But for another time, my wallet needs a break.

But I love the size, the only thing that would make this bag absolutely perfect is if it had pockets on the outside or inside. I added one on the inside to hold my cell, it’s not my best work but it works. Other than that, it holds everything! I still think Mija should design some things and have a Society 6 store for Mind-Speaks, but that might have to wait a while.

Below are my videos for my April book haul! I broke it into two parts since I wanted to discuss the poetry books I bought this month. I wasn’t really interested in poetry until I discovered these books!!! The second video contains all the fiction books I purchased.

I’m still figuring out editing. I will probably say that about every video I post, because Movie Maker isn’t the greatest program, but like I’ve said before. I’m working on it. I’m enjoying this entrance into the booktube community. I’m just trying to figure out more video topics, aside from book hauls. I love filming and watching these types of videos, however I won’t always be able to buy a bunch of books in order to film such videos. Hence, the need for other topics. I have a few ideas.

Thank for stopping by.

~March Book Haul~

I’ve been reading a lot more nowadays. Not out of character for me, but it’s been awhile since I’ve made time to continuously read books. I’ve purchased quite a few books in March and I’m almost done with all of them. I’ve already started purchasing books for April. Very dangerous.

It took several attempts to film this haul and I was getting very frustrated with it. There are some hiccups in this video, but I’ll do better next time. Like, remembering to turn off my air condition so that it doesn’t make a loud noise in the background. Also to not mess with the manual focus in the middle of filming. I didn’t even noticed it was out of focus until I was editing, too late to refilm. -.- I’ll do better next time.

I’d love to hear about the books on your lists, so don’t be shy. 🙂 Also, if you haven’t heard of Books Amino then  I highly recommend it. It’s a great book loving community where you can discuss and share book info with people from all over the world. I love it!

Thanks for stopping by!
