So I’ve heard about this amazing book store called Kaboom and I’ve been wanting to check it out for a while now.

But the last time I was close to visiting it I got confused and saw that the store was closed down. I thought the store was no longer around. Turns out, they just changed locations. So I went with Jay and I went out to lunch, Potbelly, and then found Kaboom Books. I bought two books, Lust by Susan Minot and a review copy of Fruit by Brian Francis. I love review copies, because they usually say on the cover do not sell. And here I am buying it. mwhahaha 🙂 It was a lot of fun, of course I felt bad because he had just taken his French final and was extremely tired.  And then he came over and we watched Amélie. Not the best movie to get French off his mind but I love that movie. Today we went out to lunch again, he gets so excited when we find new places to eat. He had trouble deciding between hamburgers and pizza. Even though he has been craving Chinese food for awhile now. XD We shared a large pizza at Two Guy’s Pizzeria and then we walked around Rice Village. A lot of great shops around here. We went to a store called PH Design Shop, he bought some notebooks which is awesome because now I know where to buy them for future reference. I feel as though I find a typewriter everywhere I go. They are so trendy right now. How freaking cool is the one pictured below? After that we just walked around Rice Village some more. Great area. Unrealistic prices though. -.-  He wanted some coffee so we stopped at this French bakery and had some tiramisu. Really yummy. (Quick side note: Notice the robot walking on my picture? Cute huh? The artist can be found here. I just made it into a brush, I feel as though when I post group pictures it is always odd looking because of the bare corners. So I plan on adding cute drawings to the pictures. ) After that I just listened to him talk about music. He is a very fascinating person. His taste in music is just all of over the place. I love listening to him ramble on and on about anything really. Today it just happened to be about music.  And  that was my day, I always have fun with him. So I have a lot of things to look forward to after Thursday. I’m almost done with finals, I have a math final on Thursday and I cannot wait to put it behind me. And I’m introducing Jay to my parents and my younger sister this Friday. I’m super excited and can’t wait for them to meet him. After that he will officially be my boyfriend. We’ve only been dating a month but I’m ready to make it official. Then the following weekend I meet his parents and celebrate his sister Jessica’s birthday. And then we have a week of writing for the Boldface conference. And then I move back home for the summer. I’m really gonna miss being able to see him and go on dates. Hopefully he can visit now and then. Plus he suggested we send each other letters. How freaking adorable is that? And then come June it’s back to school with me. Yup I’m taking summer courses. -.- Ok well I have no idea why I stayed up this late. I am crazy. I’m off to sleep the day away. >.<

So I’ve met one of his sisters. One down and two to go and then of course there is his mom and dad to win over.

I hope they like me. I mean there is nothing worse than having your family hate the person you are dating. I can’t wait to introduce him to my parents. I think they will really like him. All in due time. I know I’ve been on cloud 9 recently because of him. And I’m trying to keep my head on straight. I still have a life that doesn’t have to revolve around him. Even though I want to talk to him and see him all the time. I realize that is a dangerous feeling to have. But I’ve been really happy since I’ve starting seeing him. Not that I was unhappy before. Because I wasn’t, its just now I wake up with a huge smile on my face. Also he’s actually been a motivation to get my homework done faster as well. So that is always nice. And whenever I’m around him, he makes me want to journal more. I want to work on writing more stories for things like TFL and Boldface. >.< Anyway so last Saturday, I volunteered at the Houston Indie Bookfest. It was a lot of fun, I stood behind the CLMP table. In the beginning  I was unsure and timid. I had no clue as to what they wanted me to do but luckily there was another volunteer at the table to assist me. But once he left I had to step  it up. By the end of my second shift I was charismatic and a terrific sales person. I greeted passersby and helped in anyway I could. I even started asking if they were writers and what genre was their forte. It was pretty fun, I really love the indie fest. It reminds how much I love the writing community. After my shift ended, I had lunch with Jay, his sister and her boyfriend. We met at the Hobbit Cafe. It was fun, his sister seemed really shy and didn’t talk much. But I’m hoping she opens up more as she gets to know me. But it was really fun and I was happy to meet one of his family members. Especially since the night before he had met one of my sisters. After we went to lunch with his sister we headed to the park. We just walked around and then sat on a bench and talked and enjoyed the day. Then we headed to Berripop where we shared a cup of frozen yogurt. And then we walked down University street and visited Urban Outfitters and Half Price Books. He then asked me if I wanted a book or anything, I always feel awkward when someone offers to buy me something. I don’t know why but I just feel weird. I’m not talking birthday gifts or Holiday gifts, but those this-made-me-think-of-you gifts. They are great but I won’t ask for anything. We saw the Tiny Book of Tiny Stories and he offered while I politely declined. Come Monday he went back and bought it for me. Great first gift if I do say so myself. He’s so adorable. Also his mom made me blueberry cookies and they were delicious. We’ve already made plans in May to meet each others parents. He meets mine May 11th and I’ll meet his May 19th. I’m excited but extremely nervous, I hope everyone likes everyone. XD

 Another thing I would like to share with you is…drum roll please…I finally got my braces off. And it is so weird. I have to wear a retainer and it is the most annoying thing. My gums are pretty sore and I think I went a little floss happy and irritated them a bit. Now they are just angry. :/ But I am happy  that I finally got them off, of course I am gonna kind of miss having the different colors and sharing this experience with my younger sister. We both had braces and now that I don’t she jokingly says we aren’t brace face buddies anymore.  She’s funny. I find smiling very awkward. As you can see in the picture on the left. I have an awkward smile. But in my defense my cheeks and gums were already hurting and tired. I’ll get used to smiling just like I’ll get use to this blasted retainer. >.< And then after that all I have to do is go to the dentist so they can fix my front tooth and whiten the hell out of them. Do not be fooled by the picture. My teeth are not white. They only reason the picture depicts that is because of the sunny room and picture effect on instagram.  Okay well I’ve stayed up long enough. But let me end by asking you this…do you find smiling awkward or difficult when taking pictures? Because my entire face just tenses up and just looks horrible.

First I would like to thank everyone for the good advice. I really appreciate it and so far things are still progressing. I’m enjoying the getting-to-know-him phase. We have also planned our next date. We are going to the movies April 13th. The date may change but so far its sometime that weekend. 😀 So I’ll keep you updated with how things are going.

In other words I want to mention that my sister Mija has posted a design on threadless. So if you could be so kind and just head over there and vote on it I would really appreciate it. 😀 The are only 3 days left of voting. I really hope it gets made into a shirt. Thank you!!! So I just wanted to share some pictures that I haven’t posted it yet. I wanted to discuss the color mint. How freaking beautiful is that color? As you can tell I really love this mint cardigan I have. I pair with just about everything I own. I also love this color of nail polish. Unfortunately, my mint nail polish has gotten chunky and therefore can no longer be used. I really need to learn how to preserve nail polish. I feel as though they die so easily and I must be doing something wrong. We went shopping the day for Mija’s engagement party. I bought this dress, the top of the dress actually matches the top of the cranberry shirt in the first outfit picture. It was what drew me to the dress to begin with. I plan on pairing it with the mint cardigan and some yellow mustard tights and my favorite green boots. XD Hopefully it’s not too hot that day. If it is then maybe my blue ballet flats. I really hate that its not cold anymore. I loathe the heat seasons. I enjoy the winter so much more. The fashion is better, and my hair looks great most of the time. >.< In the summer however, my hair hates me it is way too hot and oh it is way too hot.  So I noticed the dress I bought right away. I picked it up and immediately rushed to the dressing room to try it on. It’s a tadbaggy in the boob area, but that is always the case with my in between imaginary sized body. :/ Anyway Kat  and Mija also bought dresses for the party. Mija had several in mind but finally decided on this one. Kat almost bought the exact same dress as I did, only in a different color, but then she noticed a different dress and changed her mind. I looked on the site for a picture of it but couldn’t find it. I’ll post pictures of us in our dresses next weekend. The party will be next Saturday, I’m excited. 😀 So after Kat and I decided on our dresses and stockings we decided to try on a bunch of different sunglasses . My face just doesn’t look good in sunglasses. Especially the jumbo bug eye ones. It was a great day.

What color are you obsessed with lately? I’m falling asleep as I type this out so I better get to bed. Next entry might be about The Hunger Games. Guess what? Finally watched the first film.

If you love to write then you should  totally sign up for this conference. There will be craft talks and workshops where you have a piece of your writing critique by fellow writers. Choose from poetry, fiction or non-fiction writing.

I plan on signing up as well, I’m so excited. It will be held on the UH campus and anyone 18 and older can join…unless you are currently in a grad program. :/ All the information can be found HERE. If you register before Sunday it only costs $75 after that it will be 100. That will only cover food and registration not room and board. They will have rooms available so if you are interested in staying on campus for the week that option is available.Now this is pretty cheap compared to some writing conferences so I can’t stress how amazing this opportunity is…especially if you live in Texas. If you do consider coming then leave me a comment so we can get acquainted I would love to meet you and read your writing.

So I watched this great short film a couple years ago. Let’s call it film A.

I lost it and every time I tried to find it again I had no luck. I finally located it and liked it right away, so I could find it if I needed to. I’m also posting about it so there is no way I can lose track of it again. While I tried to find this particular film, I found one similar only now I can’t seem to find that film. (I’ll call that one film B) -.- I need to really keep track of things I like like, thank god Pinterest exists now and days. Maybe while I search for film B, I’ll discover another film to boast about. I should be doing my homework but I thought I’d share this great short with the rest of the blogging world. Also check out the rest of the films on this channel, they are all pretty great. Film A, Beyond Words, is just so beautiful. I’m glad I was able to find it again. I think the makers and actors did an excellent job on making it believable.  Not exactly sure how I will find film B though, I really need to start remember the names of these films. Oh well I’m sure I will find it someday.

I was looking around at all the papers I printed out for class, and then I notice the sea of discarded candy wrappers. I can’t help eating a bunch of those Werther’s Original caramel candies. I know most candy does that. But what candy can you not resist?

So I’ve become obsessed with marble nails. I have Pinterest to thank for that.

Now I haven’t gotten the hang of it quite yet, but I manged to get a pretty awesome pattern on my thumb nail. Of course when I tried again the next day the results weren’t as successful. -.- I don’t know what happened but they just kept coming out smeared but I will keep trying until I get the hang of it. So I was tagged twice, by Tina and then by S. Since I have already asked my own questions and answered the 11 facts here I wont bore you by doing it again. >.< However, I will answer the questions I was asked. Since Tina answered hers via vlog I thought I would do the same seeing as it has been way too long since my last vlog. It just takes such a long time to edit it. :/

1. How long have you been blogging, and why do you blog? I have been blogging since I was 15 back when greatestjournal was alive, but this blog was started in August of 08. I love blogging, and I love documenting my life.
2. Do you have an unusual skill or talent? Not really. And any skills I do have aren’t really unusual. They are pretty much average skills. :/
3. Where is the most beautiful place you have ever been? I haven’t been anywhere outside of Texas, believe it or not but there are some beautiful places in Texas. None come to mind at the moment, but I’m sure it’ll come to me sooner or late.
4. If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be? Wherever the shop Red Velvet is located. I want to meet the owners so bad.
5. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would buy for yourself? For myself? Well since I have permission to be selfish I will. I would buy myself a new laptop and then give the rest to my parents. 😀
6. What is the one book you think everyone should read? The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides.
7. If you could travel to another time period, when would it be, and why? Probably the 60’s because of the fashion. But I don’t think I would want to stay there for very long. Because I’m spoiled by the present day.
8. In a movie of your life, who would play you? I would either want Natalie Portman or Zooey Deschanel because they are both so adorable.
9. What is your favorite word? Or something you say too often? I think the word serendipity is fun to say. But I don’t get to say it very often. >.<
10. Which fictional character would you like to invite to dinner, at yours? Tom Hansen from the film (500) Days of Summer. I’m in love with that character and with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
11. What is the first website you check when you go online? My blog. 😀 I like looking at it. I just love the layout my sister made me.

3. What makes you embarrassed? This list could go on forever!!! I’m embarrassed by almost everything. One thing that I encounter on a day to day basis, is tummy growls. My tummy growls uncontrollably loud during classes. And it just embarrasses the hell out of me. I know its not something I should really be embarrassed by. But it does.  XD
4. If you were given a coconut right now, how would you open it? I have no idea. Try to poke a hole in it? I mean that’s what Tom does in Tom and Jerry. I don’t like coconut so I wouldn’t open it, I would just give it to someone who does like it. >.<

So I am in my room just fooling around on the net. When I hear Tomo at my door, I allow him into my room, but only because he is just so adorable that it is hard to say no to him. He just laid on my bed so I figured he would just sleep. I turn my back and return to the net when a few minutes later I hear him moving around. I turn around to see him push off my pillows and blankets from my bed. I only managed to catch the end of his act on camera. What a strange kitty. In other news I added a music player page to my sidebar with a few favorite songs of mine. The music video is attached to them so just click on video in the corner of the player to view it. Or not, its up to you. I had trouble finding the right songs because I wanted the actual music video version, not somebody’s homemade music video. It was tricky because a lot of people who posted the official videos disabled embedding. It was actually very frustrating. But I managed to find all but one with official videos, so I’ll be adding to this playlist every now and then.

So on Lazy Explorers, Chloe gave out blog Valentine’s and I just fell in love with the whole idea. So I decided to do the same.

My post for last Valentine’s was a bit…well cynical. So I thought I would be a bit more loving this year. I also made a button that you can put on your side bar for the duration of the month. If you click the one on my sidebar it will take you to Chloe’s entry.

So I mentioned in my last blog about a possible giveaway. I’ll make a vlog showcasing the clutch I made that will be up for grabs. If enough people participate I might give two away. I’ll try to get that going this weekend or maybe sometime next week.

I bought new fabric this weekend. I bought a pretty paper umbrella fabric and this cute sewing themed one. Kat chose those two. And then I noticed the robot one in the clearance section and just had to get it. >.< And then my mom showed me this nice Star Wars fabric. XD I lost it. I HAD to buy it. Lets just say I went a tad bit over board, but I can’t help it. Once I enter that store I’m instantly drawn to all the pretty fabric and just start piling it into my cart. And can you blame me? It doesn’t help with all the signs that say 30% and 40% off. Plus the coupons?! O.o The coupons!!!! But I did drive all the way to Jo Ann’s fabrics. Now that is a pretty big step for me. I hate driving in Houston anxiety. Its scary and I hate doing it. But at the same time I want to learn. I drove again on Sunday, and while Mija and mom ran errands Kat and I stayed in the car and took a bunch of pictures. XD We do this a lot. She is my unofficial photographer. That’s the best thing about sisters. You can just be yourself around them. Well that’s true for siblings in general. Its also interesting because they know you for you’re entire life and they see the transformation you go through as you age. Weird. lol So Mija finally managed to get the Toki Doki Cactus Girl phone strap for me. I can’t believe after weeks of buying these foil covered trinkets, she was able to get it. Talk about luck. I mentioned this a few posts back…on how I got a milk strap. Now all that is left is to get the Pink Cactus Girl for Kat. I put it on my cell, I’m still amazed by this. I mean at first the game was fun, but after awhile the element of surprise becomes very frustrating. They should just have clear boxes so we know which ones we are buying and we can buy the ones we want. Not that I don’t like my milk strap, because I do, but it would make getting the other ones much easier. -.- I know just a stupid keychain. But its a sister thing. I can’t help it. Plus how freaking cute is Toki Doki? Extremely. I have an extra phone strap that I might include as a separate giveaway. But only if I do one clutch. This will be my first giveaway, and if it goes well I’ll continue to do one every other month or so.  If not then maybe the next handmade creation will grab your attention.

So I updated M-S the other day. I made a fold clutch following this tutorial. M-S is the space where my sisters and I post about our projects.

My older sister Mija, is a Graphic Designer, she is the creator of my wonderful blog layout and also of the M-S lay. So she freaking rocks. Kat, my younger sister, is working to become a pâtissier. She is developing her cooking skills and updates her creations on M-S.  And I update M-S, with fun sewing and knitting projects that I teach myself how to make. We take turns updating once a month and its a way for us to express our own personalities and creativity.

So my mom and Kat are here this weekend and my bro-in law Jody, took us out to dinner last night. We at Genghis Grill, and it was AMAZING. If you’ve never been before then you must go, I insist. :9 So they give you this small bowl and you start off by picking you’re protein. I packed as much sliced beef and marinated beef as I could. Followed by some crab bits, shrimp, and calamari.  Then you pick your seasoning. I just sprinkled some pepper, lemon pepper and bit of salt on mine. Then you move on to veggies, I added some mushrooms, zucchini and squash. You  pick your sauce, I chose teriyaki, and then pick your starch. I chose two, veggie fried rice and udon noodles. :9 Now if you are unsatisfied with your dish you only have your self to blame. Because you’re the one who basically made it. I was very happy with my combination of food. Next time, I think I’ll stick with crab, sliced beef and maybe a few shrimp. I was determined to pack as much food in that little bowl as I could. Its a lot of food, I couldn’t even finish my bowl. But that just meant I got to take home leftovers. XD If you have tried this place before then let me know the combination’s you’ve tried.

Here’s another song I wanted to share. Cameo Lover by Kimbra. I’ve seen a few different versions with my name in it. The most interesting one is Kimberla. XD Never met anyone with that name but I noticed an author with that name and found it very interesting. Kimbra is another unique one, even her music and videos are interesting. I’m loving her music. If I could cut my hair that short I would. XD
