Inside Kimmy's Mind

So I updated M-S the other day. I made a fold clutch following this tutorial. M-S is the space where my sisters and I post about our projects.

My older sister Mija, is a Graphic Designer, she is the creator of my wonderful blog layout and also of the M-S lay. So she freaking rocks. Kat, my younger sister, is working to become a pâtissier. She is developing her cooking skills and updates her creations on M-S.  And I update M-S, with fun sewing and knitting projects that I teach myself how to make. We take turns updating once a month and its a way for us to express our own personalities and creativity.

So my mom and Kat are here this weekend and my bro-in law Jody, took us out to dinner last night. We at Genghis Grill, and it was AMAZING. If you’ve never been before then you must go, I insist. :9 So they give you this small bowl and you start off by picking you’re protein. I packed as much sliced beef and marinated beef as I could. Followed by some crab bits, shrimp, and calamari.  Then you pick your seasoning. I just sprinkled some pepper, lemon pepper and bit of salt on mine. Then you move on to veggies, I added some mushrooms, zucchini and squash. You  pick your sauce, I chose teriyaki, and then pick your starch. I chose two, veggie fried rice and udon noodles. :9 Now if you are unsatisfied with your dish you only have your self to blame. Because you’re the one who basically made it. I was very happy with my combination of food. Next time, I think I’ll stick with crab, sliced beef and maybe a few shrimp. I was determined to pack as much food in that little bowl as I could. Its a lot of food, I couldn’t even finish my bowl. But that just meant I got to take home leftovers. XD If you have tried this place before then let me know the combination’s you’ve tried.

Here’s another song I wanted to share. Cameo Lover by Kimbra. I’ve seen a few different versions with my name in it. The most interesting one is Kimberla. XD Never met anyone with that name but I noticed an author with that name and found it very interesting. Kimbra is another unique one, even her music and videos are interesting. I’m loving her music. If I could cut my hair that short I would. XD

So I want to know, I’m thinking of making a few clutches to giveaway on M-S. Would you be interested?

I lost my straighter the other morning…I know this might not seem like a big deal but to me it is a very big deal.

The only thing I obsessed about is my hair. I cannot leave the house without taming it. If I don’t? My hair is this out of control frizzy mess that could strangle someone. That someone being me. I’ve had many straighteners in my life and I’ve lost quite a few, (lost count) and they aren’t exactly cheap. -.- But I was in the middle of straightening my hair and couldn’t finish the job because I noticed its red light was off. My first instinct was to panic. O.O Followed by,”Oh shit oh shit!” I recall the last time this happened…and I vaguely remember my mom saying something along the lines,“You’re buying the next one when this happens again.” That was like 2 maybe 3 years ago. That is what sucks about these products. They work amazingly for a couple of years and then die. Why can’t they just last forever?!!! >o< Luckily, I have the most wonderful mom on the planet and she totally saved me by buying me a new one. Yes, I am a HUGE BRAT. I make no attempts to hiding that fact along with being pretty vain. But I can’t help it. Once I started straightening my hair, (8 yrs ago) there was no stopping. I refuse to let my hair run amok. It’s like Medusa, only I have no control over the snakes. And it shows no mercy, once you make eye contact…you’re doomed. :/

So now that I’m done freaking out, I can show you the cutest bag I saw at Target the other day. Its either a fox or a raccoon not sure. But how freaking cute is it? They also had an owl version, but the way it was designed made it look like an angry bird. But after doing some research, (aka typing words into Google) I found this. And also the original designer’s Etsy store. It sucks that, a designer’s original idea can be copied like that. It almost makes me somewhat glad that I didn’t buy the bag, even though it is extremely cute. >.< But this also makes me want to try and design my own fox/raccoon bag. I do like the use of pleather in the hand bag.  I’ve been wanting to try and make something with pleather myself. Maybe I should hunt some down and actually get started on that goal. But with school starting I haven’t had a lot of time to make anything. I still haven’t updated M-S for this month yet. I keep wanting to make this, this month but homework keeps getting in the way. :/ Speaking of homework, I should finish reading a chapter before I actually go to sleep. >.< I’m so bad, but hey I’m still trying to get back to having a schedule and deadlines again. Also I was browsing Youtube, and stumbled upon this Cults music video. Emma Roberts and Dave Franco sure have grown up.  Plus is it just me or has he lost that dopey awkwardness he has on Scrubs? Also he is starting to resemble his brother more. This music video is so pretty and bittersweet. Makes me want to actually take a chance on something instead of just day dreaming about it.

So have any beautiful music videos to share? Or any items you regret not purchasing?

Ok so I’ve been over doing it on the picture front. But can you blame me? The only time I like a picture of myself is when I get to instruct the photographer (aka Kat) on how I want her to take it. Plus I can delete any embarrassing pictures she might see. And another added bonus I get to mess with it in Photoshop.

Of course the only thing I’m guilty of is changing the brightness and changing a few colors…but only because that is all Ireally know how to do. I do also enjoy taking pictures though, Kat is extremely photogenic so taking pictures of her is not hard. Her camera skills involve point and shoot. And that is it, for instance her ability to time the camera just right for jump pictures is microscopic…actually she lacks the ability completely. XD But I still love her because she spends time in the heat just to take pictures of me for daily outfit. But let me assure you that this isn’t just an issue of vanity…its to document my day as well. >.< But lets be honest I felt pretty and wanted a picture.

Oh exciting news, I learned the waterfall braid technique the other night (thanks to this) and tried it on myself but since its difficult for me to see the back of my head it didn’t come out exactly like the tutorial. But it still came out well enough for the first try. I really want to do this style for Mija, I just think it would look really pretty on her.You can’t really see the hair style in this picture but this is what I wore today. >.< I’m really loving this belt. Yes I’m wearing shorts underneath my shirt. I hate when girls wear leggings with long shirts. Yest they are long…but not long enough to cover your ass!!! -.- ahem. In my opinion if it covers your ass then its not too bad. But I’m talking COVER not ride up every now and then while you are walking.  At least have something over your leggings, (layer junkie) this is a pet peeve of mine along with wearing uggs and shorts. -.-;….Why?  Ok so now on to the next thing I want to share, OWL PURSE!!!  I bought a zoo pack a couple months ago before coming home for the summer and I finally converted what was originally a child back pack into a purse! I know it may seem childish to you, but I just couldn’t resist. Its just so freaking adorable, and I love it. I thought I wouldn’t be able to figure out how to add the rings for the strap but I did. And its pretty secure. I also was afraid that it wouldn’t fit in my sewing machine but I managed. And I am extremely happy with the results. I told Kat that if she wanted one, I’d convert hers for her as well. I’m sure the next time I do it, it will be even better. They just came out with a new animal too, its a fox still not sure why they don’t have a cat yet. If they had a cat it would be just too perfect for Kat. Either that or a rabbit?… They have a freaking bumble bee!!! They should have a cat and or bunny already. >.< (ahem keep it cool Kim) I mean I hope they bring out a cat or bunny version soon.

So Kat and I took  pictures today. I can’t help it, when I feel good about myself I like to document it. And what better way than to take pictures. (vain I know) But anyway I wanted Kat to take some jumping pics. Which is harder than you think. Well for me anyway. XD

My camera isn’t the best. (still love it though) And Kat kept making me laugh which made jumping pretty difficult. So Kat ended up taking a bunch of pics of me landing after the jump. >.< And some really weird ones as well, but it was really fun. It is super how outside though so when you add jumping to that its not exactly comfortable. But I was determined to get at least one midair picture. And Kat managed to do that, after she finished taking my pictures I took some of her. She always has a big smile on her face and managed to get a good one. She is so photogenic. Anyway so here are some pictures I deemed acceptable for my blog. XD

But yeah that was today. I love spending time with Kat, now if only she would update her blog as well. :/ But anyway I’m editing a vlog I made with her last week. I’m just doing it rather slowly because I hate using movie maker. I miss using premiere. >.< But I hope to have that up soon and post it here.  So I cannot wait for Sunday, season 4 of True Blood premieres that night. And I’m sooooo excited, I cannot wait! >.<

Another entry!!!!

So today was my second class of math and I still feel the same about math. I HATE IT!!!! I will probably have to go to tutoring every now and then. But I will do whatever it takes to pass this stupid class. Anyway so I fully intended to vlog today, but I just didn’t have a lot to say…well now I do and I could have very well filmed a vlog but we went to Hastings today and I bought two books. Everlasting by Alyson Noël is the finale to the The Immortal series and One Day by David Nicholls. Which brings me to the next thing I want to mention.

MOVIES!!!

One Day was also made into a movie, it should be coming out some time this summer. I’m soooo excited for it. But until I get to watch it, I will read the book and then be able to compare and contrast. Another movie that I want to watch is  The Art of Getting By, it comes out next week. But sadly my small town wont have any showings. They never show any sundance films!!! WHY THE HELL NOT?! I love indie films, those are usually the best.  But I can’t wait to see these movies.  Now on to a movie I watched the other night. An Invisible Sign, it was soooooo freaking cute. These are the types of movies I love. And I’m always left with such a happy feeling after watching them. Now this movie involves math, which is the  pain of my existence. However, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the main character. I’ve never  actually been a fan of Jessica Alba but she was so adorable in this movie. So if you enjoy cute artsy movies, then I recommend this one.

And of course I’m gonna be vain real quick and add a picture of myself. XD

The day lovers spends tons of money on saying I LOVE YOU in some big expensive way. Also known as Singles awareness day. Where the single people in the world feel like shit because they don’t have someone to spend that day with.

I am one of the few people that has never actually hated Valentine’s day whether I was single or in a relationship. Even though I am currently single, I have tons of people to say I love you to. Ok so I don’t have a romantic I love you to send, but why must Valentine’s be only for romance? It is a day to just remind friends and family that you love them.Even when I was in a relationship, I didn’t expect an extravagant display of affection from my boyfriend. A homemade card and spending the day with that person was more than enough. And that will always be enough. Its the cute and cheesy stuff I look forward to. And this is just how I am, because I’m not exactly great at showing affection. Which is odd because my parents showed me a lot of affection, I have the most lovable family in the world. And I have no problem showing them affection but when it comes to guys, saying I love you is something that needs to be earned. I’m a tough nut to crack and I feel sorry for the guy that wants to win my affection because it won’t be easy.  But anyway, why must being single on this day be such a negative thing? So you are single. BIG FUCKING DEAL. This does not mean you will be single for the rest of your life. Singles should enjoy this day just as much as lovers do. So singles out there could spend this day doing either of the following…..

For single Girls

1. Watch your favorite cheesy romance movies. (My favorites include Pretty in Pink, A room with a view, Going the distance, 500 days of summer, TiMER,)
2. Screw watching your weight and PIG OUT. I just ate a ton of chocolate covered strawberries and puppy chow. XD
3. Make a yummy treat. :9 ie chocolate covered strawberries or puppy chow. (basically anything chocolate is great. Or if salty is your thing make some nachos or some type of dip.) Making it is tons of fun.
4. Make belated Valentine’s for friends. If you are anything like me you wait until the last minute to do things. >.< its a curse. But it will give you something to do.
5. Play LEFT 4 DEAD!!!! KILL SOME ZOMBIES! Or any game you prefer.
6. If you prefer to go out, hang out with your other single friends and go to the movies or go out dancing.

For Single guys

1. I really have no idea what a single guy would do on this day. I would say watch your favorite porno, but I’m sure you do that often enough as it is. But we’ll just call that your favorite movie.
2. PLAY VIDEO GAMES. Kick some zombie or Templar ass! You should be happy you are single cause chances are if you don’t have a nerdy girlfriend that enjoys playing video games as much as you do, you would probably be stuck with a high maintenance chick who would be expecting a whole lot of something that your bank account just doesn’t have at the moment.  So be happy.
3. Pig out and burp and scratch your balls. Be a man and watch football. (I don’t know I’m just using a stereotype, cause I have no idea what else to put.)
4. Hang out with your other single friends.

What NOT to do.

• DO NOT HAVE A ONE NIGHT STAND! I REPEAT.
• DO NOT SLEEP WITH SOMEONE YOU MET AT A CLUB JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL LONELY.
• You will wake up feeling like shit and hoping that, that rubber on the floor was actually used in this ridiculous attempt to make you feel loved. For what lasted… what 4 minutes?…ok 8. Does that make you feel better?

Ok maybe I over stepped some boundaries. But seriously. You shouldn’t feel ashamed for being single. You should be enjoying life and having fun. But in a safe healthy way. Because we all know club guys have all kinds of stds.(sorry if you are a club guy) And we all know that club chicks are all a bunch of coke whores with daddy issues. (There are those boundaries again. Sorry I guess I should say not all club goers are this way, and I apologize.) So spend this Valentine’s having fun with either some single friends or family members so you don’t wake up with some unknown guy/girl in your bed that you have to kick out in the morning. Cause lets face it, we all known whatever lie you think up to tell them is the biggest BULLSHIT.

Like I’ve said before in this entry and in this vlog, I have had crooked teeth for a long time. So things like this just make me so happy. I’ll post some pictures of my improved smile as soon as I can get my hands on Mija’s good camera. My camera doesn’t do well with zooming. Anyway, I’ve been in such a good mood today even though my jaw has been hurting. (no gross jokes please, that means you Mija) I’m not sure why it hurts last weekend I was eating some crackers and then all of a sudden the left side of my jaw started hurting. It doesn’t always hurt, only when I try to open wide. -.- (again no gross jokes please) Sometimes eating and brushing the back teeth hurt. But I’m really hoping its just like a neck crick and will just go away with time. -.-

SHOW AND TELL

So last weekend I went back to Houston to visit my grandmother.(An entry about that later) Mija took us to FIT, I love this store so freaking awesome. It sells things from Japan, and for Christmas Mija surprised me with a bento. And then last weekend I bought a notebook and these cute stamps. This store is pretty cheap, items are usually 2 bucks.  The stamps I bought are so freaking adorable, I just had to get them. One is of a sewing machine and the other is a ball of yarn and it says handmade. I couldn’t resist. >.<

So the other day I was reading, Elsie’s blog and this entry really peeked my interest, because of course FREE STUFF.  I really like the bags on this site. Especially the teal bag, too bad that wasn’t the one offered in the giveaway. But anyway, I just really like these bags. I like the colors, the size, its so freaking cute. However, I’m not too crazy about the price. 89$ >.< bleh. So the chance of getting that bag is pretty slim. That is a lot of money to spend on a bag.  But to make matters better, I went to Target today, and you know what I found? A teal bag for 22 bucks. It isn’t the same one on Jo Totes but I like it nonetheless. It has a bunch of pockets and its a great size too. So even though I can’t get the rose teal bag, the one I bought today is pretty awesome. I’m not usually a fancy bag person, but this bag was just adorable. And I was worried that if I didn’t buy it, I would never see it again!!!! lol Ok I know pretty dramatic for a bag. But what can I say?

So I update MS about the fingerless mittens I learned how to make.  As you can see, lately I’ve been obsessed with the color teal and with yarn. So I decided to combine those two things and makes something. I only know how to make the fingerless mittens and scarves, but I plan to learn how to make hats as well. I tried making a 3d heart, but it kept slipping off the needle and pissed me off. >.< So I decided to try again some other time. lol So my break is coming to an end, and that means going back to Houston. I’m not looking forward to waking up at a certain time and doing homework and catching metro. But I am a little excited to go back to school. I plan to make friends this semester… well attempt to anyway. -.-

Eliza Doolittle- Missing

I said I would vlog more. -.- But being lazy is just so much more fun.

My sleep schedule is naturally screwed up because I went to sleep really late the other day. >.< I was finishing my English final, I finished it around 6 Monday Morning. But now I can relax at home for 3 whole weeks. ^^ It is a bit weird being home after waking up in a different place for 3 months. I love being home, but I also really love my home away from home. It is really comfortable there, and plus I really enjoy having my own bathroom and having the laundry room right outside my bedroom. lol

In depressing news, Mai from Kra (my favorite jrock band) might be leaving the band. T-T I cannot believe it, I’m not sure what the reason is or if it is a sure thing. It might be for health reasons or something else. I do hope he isn’t sick, but I’m just really sad that he is leaving. I first was introduced to this band when I was a freshman in high school. And after watching the pv to Kuu I just fell in love. This was when they were barely starting as a band, they’ve grown so much since that pv.  I grew to love all of the members. It wouldn’t be Kra without either of them. And it wouldn’t be the same if they replaced Mai.  >.< This makes me so sad! I just want them to continue making music together.

Lighten the mood with a less depressing topic- So I am trying to find a tutorial or a patter to make a lace slip dress for our New Years party. But so far no luck, too bad we didn’t go to Buffalo Exchange, I’m sure I could have found a starting point and then just reconstructed or added something to it. I haven’t given up yet, once I figure out what it is I’m making I can buy some fabric. Speaking of fabric I really hope Walmart brings back their fabric section. I was so disappointed when they took it away. But thank goodness there is Hobby Lobby. And there are fabric stores in my town but the fabric there is really expensive. :/ But I like how fabric stores look. Small crafts or antique shops are always so cute, I love knowing that shops like that are near my home. Now if only we had a cute bakery or desert shop, that would be just perfect. And that could be next to a small book store. Like halfprice books for instance or something similar.

Anyway I was reading this blog and in one of her entries she mentions this. I totally want it. I’ve always found polaroid cameras wonderful, I just love the vintage feel it gives pictures. It is expensive, but what camera isn’t? One day maybe. sigh.  I also noticed this blog had this on its sidebar, and if you read a lot of blogs or own a blog then you should get an account. It is a great site that keeps you updated, plus it might help give you traffic on your blog. If you look on my sidebar I already put an icon that will lead you to my blog on bloglovin.

I haven’t had a song of the day in any of my recent posts. So today’s song is by Eliza Doolittle, I just happened to find  her on Youtube and liked her voice and her music is adorable.

Well I’m gonna lay down and probably fall asleep -.- I hope I can fix my sleep schedule after today. I know I won’t be up during the day. *sigh*

So September 11th was my 21st Birthday. And everyone kept asking,” which bar are going to?” My reply was, “oh I’m just going home to celebrate with my family.”

It seemed as if they were disappointed by my answer. As if I wasn’t celebrating correctly. -.- Its not like I’m never going to drink, I just don’t care that now I can legally drink alcohol. Its just not that big a deal to me. Sorry if that is odd.

Like every year, I always have a great birthday. Ok besides the time I had to evacuate and the other time terrorists destroyed the World Trade Center. This year I got a netbook for my birthday, its a 10” Toshiba and its is the perfect size to carry around campus. Also, its nice to take to Barnes & Noble on my way home from school. So I am really happy with it. Plus its so freaking cute oh and the battery life on it is wonderful. It doesn’t have a ton of memory but that is why I’m glad I  have a seagate hard drive. I got mail today from Missy. She sent me a card and a Belle charm oh and the notebook of course. I love and miss you Missy!!!!!!! Thanks again. Her anniversary was the 12th so Happy Anniversary Missy. I hope I get to see you next weekend.

So last Friday, Mija and Jody took me to Aka for a Birthday dinner. We ate the same thing we ate last time. But Jody ordered stuff that he wanted as well. Like seaweed salad.(pic above) But yeah dinner was great. Eating is getting easier, but I still can’t bite into my food. I have to use a fork and cut whatever I’m eating into small pieces. I miss eating candy. I’ve been craving peanut m&ms so bad. On campus there are vending machines practically everywhere I look. And the m&ms are calling to me. I kid you not. But I can’t eat peanuts or any type of hard candy or chewy. I don’t want to risk breaking my braces, so I fight the urge to eat the candy. I do however eat chips but I am extra careful. They taste different though not as good as they used to be.-.-

On my actual Birthday I went home, and mom made enchiladas for dinner. So good. Kat also made me a birthday cake and mini cheesecakes. I love cheesecake. <3 Thanks again Kat. Speaking of the odd ball, she got four teeth pulled today. I hope she is feeling ok.  I will see her tomorrow after class, we are going home to celebrate dads birthday. But I have an exam tomorrow so I should get back to studying. -.- I hate studying. It just makes me sleepy, and bored. And when I’m bored I crave food…junk food. sigh. Ok back to being bored. Hopefully I actually remember the stuff I’m studying. -.-

What if you had a device that told you the exact day and time you would meet the one…YOUR ONE?

I watched this movie, where a device like this existed. Its called TiMER and in this movie people can get timers attached to their arm to pin point the exact moment their true love enters their life. The moment you lock eyes on this person the timers go off at the same time. It is completely your choice whether or not you get a timer. But you only get once chance, if you remove the timer you cannot get it again.

I enjoyed this movie because I really like the idea of being able to know when you will meet the one you will grow old with. I mean isn’t that what everyone wants? To meet their true love? But then it got me thinking, in the movie people didn’t fall in love the “old fashion” way anymore. Couples were brought together by a device. The new wave of match making sites. The protagonist became obsessed with finding her match that it wasn’t even about love anymore. And then I changed my mind and saw it a horrible idea. I mean again it would be a choice. But what if I did choose to get one? I think I would rather fall in love when I least expect it. Just let it surprise me, even though I don’t really like surprises. Well I don’t like certain surprises. But the whole cliche lovey-dovey romance bit, I think that’s a surprise I want to experience. Just let it happen one day. Of course, besides wanting to know who that person is already; I think people hope their surprise is  one you would find in a movie. Yup a magic movie moment, something that could only happen in a cheesy romance flick. Those happen in reality too. To lucky people anyway. -.- This movie also made me think about the creative writing class I took in high school. I could have sworn that one of my peers wrote a short story like this about timers and true loves. Maybe its just me getting confused with something else.

So another movie I want to bring up is Going the Distance. So freaking cute  I loved it. Justin Long and Drew Barrymore have such great chemistry. It was so hilarious, I was constantly laughing. I recommend watching this movie if you love cutesy, pervy movies.

So yeah one more thing, I’m still adjusting to being in a new city/home/school. Oh and I’m able to chew a bit better. It doesn’t hurt like it did the first two weeks. I still can’t bite into a sandwich. -.- I have to tear my food apart which isn’t so bad. I get the bottom braces in October. Yay sooooo looking forward to hurting again. -.- Oh and one more thing I turn 21 this Saturday. Weird. O.o  Of course I have class from 1 to 3. But I might just leave before the second half of class. I mean its my birthday after all. And I shouldn’t spend it in a boring classroom. I’m heading home after class to spend my birthday with my family. YAY!
