Inside Kimmy's Mind

So I thought I’d end this year by doing a recap of everything that happened in 2011. I got the idea from my sister’s blog over here.

But once I tried updating about last year, I had trouble remembering what all happened in the beginning. So I’ll just give you small insights to the important things that impacted my 2011.

My best friend had her son Jaxson. He is so freaking adorable. And now he is already a year old how crazy is that? I hope I get to see them both at the end of the month for his birthday party. She lives in Oklahoma now, so I don’t get to see her often. And I still haven’t had a chance to mail off her Christmas gift. >.< I’m so bad.

My little sister graduated high school last may and started her first semester at BC last August. I can’t believe how quickly she is growing up as well. Kat and I have always been together so living in Houston without her in the next room has been difficult. Luckily I have awesome roomies to keep me company.

Speaking of the weirdos they got engaged last year as well. They booked the reception place and bought our bride’s maid dresses. Its really exciting to be included in this wedding. Mija has changed so much since meeting Jody. I’m glad she found someone that can make her happy. Also they both left their past jobs to start a freelance company together called Domo-Box but now they are both starting new jobs. I’m so proud of them.

Let’s see we had some awesome parties in 2011. My favorite had to be our Halloween bash. I made costumes and they came out so freaking awesome. I think costume parties are the BEST, especially since my sewing skills have improved a great deal. So has my knitting skills, I’m pretty proud of all the new things I’ve learned how to make. I’m also pretty proud of myself in the social department. I even actually had my first college dating experience, it was new and exciting. I learned a lot, like for instance why beat around the bush just dive in. If you’re interested in someone get to know them and then tell them. It didn’t quite work out for me but I don’t regret any of it. I met a pretty cool guy who is now a pretty cool friend. And I’m glad I put myself out there because I’m already 22 I don’t have time to be shy. I just need to be confident and hey if the guy doesn’t feel the same way oh well then better luck next time. Christmas was another success as usual. I got so many great things, stuff I wasn’t even expecting.

2011 was pretty fun, I can’t really complain about it. I still haven’t gotten a job, but I’m going to stalk Jo-ann’s fabric until they hire me. Totally not kidding. Here’s to 2012, I hope I do well in school and continue to grow socially and be less awkward in social situations.

So I’ve recently learned how to make messenger bags, thanks to this tutorial. I made one for Mija’s birthday and it came out so amazing. I’m really proud of it and now must make one for myself and Kat. This is a project I definitely must make for the MS etsy store.

Tuesday and Wednesday I spent some time with friends, Missy’s baby can now hold his head up and crawl a bit so I can actually interact with him. XD Babies make me nervous but when they are older I can actually hold them and play with them. Jaxson is a lot heavier then I thought he would be, lol but he is still so cute that you can’t help but want to hold him. I love when they come to visit me. So going back to the whole messenger bag, I turn to the mighty inter webs in search for the perfect fabric. Kat wanted an Alice in Wonderland themed bag but not the Disney version. So I found this Japanese fabric that is just perfect for her. Its so cute, and was much easier to find/buy than the fabric I want. :/ I found this on eBay for a lot less and bought it before someone else did. >.< The other listings that I had my eye on were auctions. And I really dislike bidding. So I found one for buy now, plus the one I purchased was for a full size bed. The other ones were for twin, so this way I get more fabric.  So here is what I wore last Tuesday, Kat took pictures of me. I really wish I could take a nice jump picture, mine always come out odd looking. One day I will take an awesome jump picture….one day. I should actually wish to be more photogenic in every picture someone takes of me. >.< I feel like now that my teeth are becoming straight my face doesn’t know how to smile sincerely any more. >.< I know that sounds odd but its  true. I notice that my smile in pictures look so fake. But I am smiling sincerely….I thought I was anyway. The only way to remedy this problem is to return to my closed mouth smile or to not smile at all in pictures. -.- Either that or learn how to smile a less fake smile.  lol So Mija is in NOLA this week with Jody. They are visiting his family, and she left her car at home for an entire week. XD I get to drive it. But by that I mean, I can only drive it in our neighborhood and to school which is just across the street. But that’s two days I don’t have to walk in the heat. YAY! I’m a bit nervous, but strangely confident. I have to practice parking though before I’m allowed to drive it to school. If mom doesn’t like like my parking then I can’t drive it. So I must practice first. But I feel like I can do it. And confidence is key right? So I must remain positive. >.< I wish Mija would just leave her car here for the rest of the summer so I can practice on it and use it to take the driving test. (wishful thinking I know) Mom took it to work today, I wish she didn’t because then I could be practicing now. :/ The minute she gets home she is taking me driving. I can’t waste another day of car week not driving the car. lol Man I’m ready for a nap now, waiting for mom to get home is going to take forever and I suddenly feel very sleepy. XD I have things I want to get done today but I can’t accomplish anything if I’m sleepy.

Ok so I’ve been over doing it on the picture front. But can you blame me? The only time I like a picture of myself is when I get to instruct the photographer (aka Kat) on how I want her to take it. Plus I can delete any embarrassing pictures she might see. And another added bonus I get to mess with it in Photoshop.

Of course the only thing I’m guilty of is changing the brightness and changing a few colors…but only because that is all Ireally know how to do. I do also enjoy taking pictures though, Kat is extremely photogenic so taking pictures of her is not hard. Her camera skills involve point and shoot. And that is it, for instance her ability to time the camera just right for jump pictures is microscopic…actually she lacks the ability completely. XD But I still love her because she spends time in the heat just to take pictures of me for daily outfit. But let me assure you that this isn’t just an issue of vanity…its to document my day as well. >.< But lets be honest I felt pretty and wanted a picture.

Oh exciting news, I learned the waterfall braid technique the other night (thanks to this) and tried it on myself but since its difficult for me to see the back of my head it didn’t come out exactly like the tutorial. But it still came out well enough for the first try. I really want to do this style for Mija, I just think it would look really pretty on her.You can’t really see the hair style in this picture but this is what I wore today. >.< I’m really loving this belt. Yes I’m wearing shorts underneath my shirt. I hate when girls wear leggings with long shirts. Yest they are long…but not long enough to cover your ass!!! -.- ahem. In my opinion if it covers your ass then its not too bad. But I’m talking COVER not ride up every now and then while you are walking.  At least have something over your leggings, (layer junkie) this is a pet peeve of mine along with wearing uggs and shorts. -.-;….Why?  Ok so now on to the next thing I want to share, OWL PURSE!!!  I bought a zoo pack a couple months ago before coming home for the summer and I finally converted what was originally a child back pack into a purse! I know it may seem childish to you, but I just couldn’t resist. Its just so freaking adorable, and I love it. I thought I wouldn’t be able to figure out how to add the rings for the strap but I did. And its pretty secure. I also was afraid that it wouldn’t fit in my sewing machine but I managed. And I am extremely happy with the results. I told Kat that if she wanted one, I’d convert hers for her as well. I’m sure the next time I do it, it will be even better. They just came out with a new animal too, its a fox still not sure why they don’t have a cat yet. If they had a cat it would be just too perfect for Kat. Either that or a rabbit?… They have a freaking bumble bee!!! They should have a cat and or bunny already. >.< (ahem keep it cool Kim) I mean I hope they bring out a cat or bunny version soon.

So Kat and I took  pictures today. I can’t help it, when I feel good about myself I like to document it. And what better way than to take pictures. (vain I know) But anyway I wanted Kat to take some jumping pics. Which is harder than you think. Well for me anyway. XD

My camera isn’t the best. (still love it though) And Kat kept making me laugh which made jumping pretty difficult. So Kat ended up taking a bunch of pics of me landing after the jump. >.< And some really weird ones as well, but it was really fun. It is super how outside though so when you add jumping to that its not exactly comfortable. But I was determined to get at least one midair picture. And Kat managed to do that, after she finished taking my pictures I took some of her. She always has a big smile on her face and managed to get a good one. She is so photogenic. Anyway so here are some pictures I deemed acceptable for my blog. XD

But yeah that was today. I love spending time with Kat, now if only she would update her blog as well. :/ But anyway I’m editing a vlog I made with her last week. I’m just doing it rather slowly because I hate using movie maker. I miss using premiere. >.< But I hope to have that up soon and post it here.  So I cannot wait for Sunday, season 4 of True Blood premieres that night. And I’m sooooo excited, I cannot wait! >.<

Another entry!!!!

So today was my second class of math and I still feel the same about math. I HATE IT!!!! I will probably have to go to tutoring every now and then. But I will do whatever it takes to pass this stupid class. Anyway so I fully intended to vlog today, but I just didn’t have a lot to say…well now I do and I could have very well filmed a vlog but we went to Hastings today and I bought two books. Everlasting by Alyson Noël is the finale to the The Immortal series and One Day by David Nicholls. Which brings me to the next thing I want to mention.

MOVIES!!!

One Day was also made into a movie, it should be coming out some time this summer. I’m soooo excited for it. But until I get to watch it, I will read the book and then be able to compare and contrast. Another movie that I want to watch is  The Art of Getting By, it comes out next week. But sadly my small town wont have any showings. They never show any sundance films!!! WHY THE HELL NOT?! I love indie films, those are usually the best.  But I can’t wait to see these movies.  Now on to a movie I watched the other night. An Invisible Sign, it was soooooo freaking cute. These are the types of movies I love. And I’m always left with such a happy feeling after watching them. Now this movie involves math, which is the  pain of my existence. However, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the main character. I’ve never  actually been a fan of Jessica Alba but she was so adorable in this movie. So if you enjoy cute artsy movies, then I recommend this one.

And of course I’m gonna be vain real quick and add a picture of myself. XD

So Kat and I had another adventure last Thursday. We met up at The Local and had lunch with our best friends.

Before we met up with our friends Kat and I decided to wait for the bus, so we took  tons of pictures while we waited. She took a lot of odd pictures of me, catching me off guard and whatnot.  I just really wanted to show off this dress. Its sooooo cute.  >.< So I was vain for a day. And where else can I be vain if not on MY blog?! XD I took pictures of her as well, but she didn’t like too many of them. So I’ll only share the ones she has allowed me to upload. -.- But first…. ME!!!!

I felt like the bus was never going to show up, so Miss texted me asking if we needed a ride. THANK GOD!!! So she picked us up early and we went to The Local where Kat’s friend Julia met up with us later. Of course I didn’t take pictures at the restaurant, except of Jaxson, but those didn’t come out as well as I’d hope they would. >.< I’m not sure why I didn’t take any pictures of us with our friends. -.- This makes me mad, but I think the reason was because I was just so excited to see Missy and Jaxson that I just forgot. And I ended up filming and photographing Jaxson. He is sooooooo cute!!!!

Well I start class on Tuesday…-.- great. I have a teacher from like Romania or something, I can barely understand it when an American tries to teach me. How an the hell am I gonna learn with someone from another country. >.< PLEASE LET ME PASS IT.

My baby sister turns 18 today, I cannot believe it. She is 18 today and a high school graduate tomorrow. >.< So weird.

I still remember when she was two, I thought she was the cutest baby in the world. And before my fear of holding babies kicked in I would always want to hold her. Of course I was too small to actually hold her, so I had to make do with sitting next to her. lol But as we grew older we became inseparable. When Mija went to junior high she went through “the you are younger than me and far less cool, so don’t talk to me” phase.  So thankfully I had Kat to keep me company. Even when I went to junior high I would still come home and hang out with her. I guess I’m just a far more superior older sister than Mija. XD jk I did however become a protective big sister, and this makes me want to kick all the boys in the balls to keep them away from her.  (I have no idea where she got the boy-crazed gene from) I know she is getting older but its hard to see her that way when I just see my baby sister. But its something I’m working on. -.- It will just take some time, and until then I have the right to give any boy the death glare.

So Kat will be going to BC in the fall, and then after a semester or two she will transfer to Houston and enroll in A.I. (The Art Institute) She is going for culinary and I hope she becomes a master pastry chef.  I want her to enjoy her last summer vacation, because once you graduate high school, those just disappear. >.< I hope she has fun while in college and I hope she doesn’t have to deal with stupid stuff like I do.

Words of wisdom for Kat:

• Pace yourself, don’t let yourself get overwhelmed
• Do your best
• Try not to procrastinate- its not helpful and you’ll end up in a bind so do everything early.
• Ask for help- don’t be afraid to ask for help, I was specifically designed to help YOU. That’s what sisters are for so just ask. <3
• Remember, just because you are 18 now doesn’t mean you can do as you please. You’re just a year older, nothing else has changed. Luis and Cynthia are still your parents. Meaning they still make the rules.
  
• Don’t let anything or ANYONE get in your way. You have goals and I want you to accomplish those goals and be happy.
  

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAT!! LOVE YOU- Just tried to go shopping for the brat and nothing seemed to be right. DAMN YOU XBOX!!!

Everywhere I turn couples are either getting married or expecting a child, I’m assuming because it is Spring time. And this is just the designated season to marry your significant other and to reproduce.

In the blog universe two of my favorite bloggers have also embraced the season of marriage and baby making. I have mentioned this blog before, she inspires me with every post.I hope to one day make my blog as interesting as hers is.  Her and her husband are the cutest couple, their vintage style is just so picture perfect.  I also enjoy reading this blog, I love how her and her husband collaborate on her blog. He takes such amazing pictures of her. So adorable. Its what I hope for in a relationship, working together to create something. Meeting someone that not only supports but inspires me as well.  Anyway, they are expecting their first child.

In my real world, I’ve mention my best friend having her first baby back in January, and he is still the cutest thing in the world. >.< Such a cute baby, in some pictures he definitely looks like Missy and then in others I think he resembles his dad. Its so weird and amazing all at the same time. I’ve never been a baby person and I’m still not comfortable with holding him but as soon as he is old enough to crawl I might be able to hold him. lol Continuing on, my older sister got engaged a couple of weeks ago. Its pretty exciting, no date has been decided as of yet. But I’m hoping its not too far away. It will probably be in a year or so. Usually when a family member gets married, I dread going to the wedding. I’m not a fan of them. But when its someone I truly love then I know I will enjoy myself. I’m already planning on a toast to give during the dinner. It’s my older sister so I have plenty of words to share, maybe some embarrassing stories or two as well. XD

I’m looking forward to the wedding, I hope the plans go smoothly and she doesn’t turn into a bridezilla. XD Beause she can be pretty scary when things aren’t done in the way she wants them to be done. And I’ll actually have to do what she says since its her wedding. -.- Yeah I’m looking forward to that part. But in all seriousness, she shouldn’t be too difficult. lol But I know she won’t be one of those brides that pick the most ugly bridesmaid dresses for us to wear. But I’m more excited to see her try on a lot of different wedding gowns.  So weird my sister is engaged. >.<

Spring break is over. >.< I really don’t want it to end!!!!

So we went home this weekend to drop off the brat…I mean my loving sister Kat. So when we arrived Saturday afternoon, we saw the presents mom had bought us. She bought each of us a suitcase and overnight bag. So freaking adorable, I can’t get over how cute it is. So we went back to JcPenny and she bought herself one as well to match us. Hers has a pink floral print on it and both Kat and I have dots in our favorite colors while Mija’s is blue with wavy lines. I always thought Mija was the matching freak, but she had to get it from someone. Which is totally not a bad thing, I like when things match as well. And when you have two sisters that enjoy most of the same things as you do; buying things in 3?s becomes habit. But of course they have to be different in some way, like color or pattern. lol

I’ve never actually owned luggage before now, and I’ve been wanting an overnight bag for the longest time. I love the shape of it and its similar to the Paperchase ones I’m so in love with. So I’ve been enjoying my time at home, so much so that I wish this up coming week was my spring break so I could stay home for a week. >.<

Already back in Houston and I miss my parents and Kat. Having Kat here for a week was really fun, it ended up feeling normal.. plus she would cook things for us and that is always great. I’m glad I get to come again this weekend. Of course that means going through a week of classes first. -.- Sigh suck it up I know.

It is Thursday morning. And my spring break is almost over.  I hate the feeling when something you like comes to an end.

I know I should make the most of things and enjoy it while it lasts but it is sort of hard to enjoy something when I know it is almost over. Its the same feeling I get when I’m on the last page of a really good book. I try to read really slowly just so I can have another day with it. I knew this week would go by in the blink of an eye, so this isn’t a surprise. Kat is here with us this week. We went to the Galleria on Saturday and Kat bought some outfits. She also bought me this great journal which I’m sure I’ve mentioned in a previous post. Its from the paperchase brand that I love so much. And the funny thing about it is that Mija noticed a flaw on the bottom right typewriter. A graphic screw up and now it bothers her. It makes me laugh, because I’m curious to know how this screw up occurred. They basically cut and copied a bit of the space bar and scooted it up to replace a missing key or something. But why the space bar? They could have just cut around another key and then used black as a shadow to cover around it or something. She also bought herself a small notebook from the same brand. Its so cute and it really suits her.  On Tuesday I took her on a small tour of my campus and then we had lunch with Mija and Jody at NRP. She really wanted to have the metro experience. We went on 4 buses that day which is the normal total of buses I take on a normal school day. She said it was fun, and it is fun when you have someone to ride it with you. But if you are going by yourself then its not so much as fun as …annoying. Especially when your bus decides to be late that day. But anyway, so after lunch Jody drove us to Berripop and Kat bought us some frozen yogurt. I am so addicted to this stuff and now so is Kat. Its been awhile since I’ve had a chance to enjoy some so that was a nice treat. Kat got watermelon with granola and kiwi and I chose strawberry yogurt with strawberries and cheesecake bits. :9 So yummy I’m craving it again.

So far the rest of the week we haven’t done anything besides sleep late and in. I have a 5 page essay I should be writing right now but I just want to lay down and be lazy. I wanted to go to F.I.T but I don’t think we will have time to go this week. -.- sucks. Also Saturday morning my dad is in a jeep show, he gets to show off Midnight to the community. I don’t remember the make I just know it is an older jeep that he bought and fixed up. Its his pride and joy, he has put a lot of time and money into fixing it up.  Ok so now I should start doing my homework or I’m gonna end up doing it last minute and its due on Tuesday.
